Pokemon GO fans love the Steel/Psychic-type Metagross in any form. It now appears that a new form for the creature will be made available in the game. Specifically, on September 18-22, 2024, trainers can encounter Dynamax Beldum in Max Battles during the Psychic Spectacular event. This Beldum can be caught and evolved into Dynamax-capable Metagross.
Throughout the event, trainers will be able to visit Power Spots and encounter Dynamax Beldum. By using their own Dynamax Pokemon to defeat this boss, it will be possible to catch a Dynamax-capable Beldum. This critter can be evolved as a standard Beldum would to acquire a Metang. Players can then evolve Metang into Metagross. Trainers can even acquire a Shiny Metagross this way.

Pokemon GO's Psychic Spectacular event begins on September 18, 2024, at 10:00 am and will last until September 22, 2024, at 8:00 pm local time. During this time, Dynamax Beldum will be available to face in Max Battles as a 3-star Max Battle boss. Max Battles can only be participated in by Dynamax/Gigantamax-capable Pokemon, which is worth keeping in mind ahead of the event.
Of all the Dynamax-capable Pokemon in Pokemon GO, the Dynamax Charmander/Charmeleon/Charizard made available during September 10-15's GO Big event should be the best counter to defeat Dynamax Beldum. This is because Beldum retains its Steel/Psychic type combination in Dynamax form, making it susceptible to Charmander/Charmeleon/Charizard's Fire-type arsenal.
Once it's defeated, trainers can catch Dynamax Beldum. The critter will retain its ability to use its Dynamax form in future Max Battles. All that's left from here is for players to evolve Beldum.
With 25 Beldum candies, trainers can evolve Beldum into Metang. 100 candies will evolve Metang into Metagross. The good news is that acquiring candies for Dynamax Metang should be simpler during the event.
Since Max Battles provide rewards like Rare Candies, players can perform other candy-gathering activities, like using Dynamax-compatible Beldum as their buddy Pokemon and walking around while they grind Dynamax Beldum Max Battles. Additionally, catching any Beldum elsewhere (regardless of whether they're Dynamax capable) will still provide plenty of candy.
Keep in mind that while this new Dynamax-capable Metagross can still be used in Pokemon GO's PvE and PvP formats, it can only transform into its Dynamax form when participating in Dynamax-related activities like Max Battles. Otherwise, it functions as an ordinary Metagross much like those obtained elsewhere.
In case trainers don't obtain Dynamax Beldum and evolve it during Pokemon GO's Psychic Spectacular, don't worry! Dynamax Beldum will likely be reintroduced to Max Battles at some point in the future after the Psychic Spectacular event has come and gone. It may be a while, but the opportunity will eventually rear its head again if players are willing to exercise their patience.
