The Pokemon GO Wild Area Special Research available to players with tickets has two branches — Electric (Amp it Up) and Poison (Keep It Lowkey). Both provide similar rewards, with a few notable exceptions. Neither branch is much better than the other, and which one you choose depends largely on the rewards you prefer.

You should take a look at all the tasks and rewards involved in the Pokemon GO Wild Area Special Research before you make your decision. This article covers that and highlights the key differences between the two paths.

The main differences between the two paths concern their rewards and involve the following:

  • The Electric path will give you a Pikachu Pop Star, while you can get the Pikachu Rock Star from the Poison path.
  • The medal you get in the end — Electric Expert or Poison Expert
  • The form of Dynamax Toxtricity you get — Amped Up or Low Key

The badges don't really do anything other than add a cosmetic flair. Both forms of Toxtricity behave exactly the same way in battle. The key differences lie in the forms of Pikachu you receive as reward encounters and the bonus damage in PvE battles.

While Electric-type damage is better neutrally, Mega Altaria and Zacian raids will be made easier with Poison-type damage being doubled. Both forms of Pikachu are equally rare.

Therefore, if you want to prioritize the variant of Pikachu you get as a reward, choose the path that gives you the desired costume. If it is the additional damage you want, go for the Poison-type (Keep It Lowkey) path of the Pokemon GO Wild Area Special Research.
