Appearance
Flaaffy is a small, pink Pokemon that stands on two legs and has thick, cone-like ears on either side of its head. It has a white mane of wool that covers the top of its head and its neck/upper body. The mane has sideways curls atop its head and it has striped ears as well as a striped tail. The tail ends in a blue orb while the pink parts on its body that are without wool are rubber. These places are safe to touch as they don’t conduct the electricity that is normally running throughout its body.
Behavior
The reason Flaaffy has those safe, rubber spots on its body is because the electricity became too much and resulted in the burning off of most of its wool. The orb lights up when the mane, the source of the electricity, is fully charged and ready to expel. It attacks by firing electrified hairs at its opponents. It typically lives in grassy fields, but has been known to be found in farms.
Strengths and Weaknesses
As a monotype Electric Pokémon, Flaaffy is weak against Ground-type moves and will take twice the normal damage from them. It is not immune to any types but is resistant to Flying, Steel and Electric-types, which will do half the damage. There are no type advantages or disadvantages with Normal, Dark, Fighting, Fire, Water, Grass, Fairy, Poison, Rock, Bug, Ice, Psychic, Dragon and Ghost types.
Best moveset (Flaaffy)
Flaaffy has a lot of strong moves including Focus Punch, which is a move that has 150 power and 100% accuracy. Here are Flaaffy’s best moves: Focus Punch fails if the user takes damage before it hits, Zap Cannon has 50% accuracy but 100% chance to paralyze the target while Double Edge has 33% recoil. Finally, Wild Charge has ¼ recoil.

How to catch Flaaffy in Pokemon Go?
Flaaffy spawns in college campuses, universities, residential areas, schools, commercial shopping districts and other areas. Mareep can be found in similar areas as well as industrial areas and they have a boosted spawn rate during Rainy weather as well. Mareep evolves into Flaaffy at 25 candies and then to Ampharos with 100 candies. Flaaffy was previously a tier three raid boss and Mega Ampharos has also been in raids, as well.
Trivia
- All three times that Flaaffy is mentioned as the answer to a trivia question in a Pokemon Trainer’s Choice segment, it is spelled incorrectly: Flaafy.
- Flaaffy is based on a sheep and its ability is based on the fact that wool generates electricity.
FAQs
How big is Flaaffy?
Flaaffy is actually a very small Pokemon. It stands two feet seven inches and weighs just 29.3 pounds. This is only a few inches taller than Mareep, despite it standing on two legs now. Ampharos, however, gains two feet in height after it evolves from Flaaffy.
Is Flaaffy in Pokemon Sword and Shield?
No. Neither Mareep, Flaaffy or Ampharos are available in Pokemon Sword and Shield. They’re not in any DLC, either. It is, however, in the Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee and Let’s Go Pikachu games.
Is there a shiny Flaaffy in Pokemon Go?
Yes. In all three evolutionary stages, the primary color is pink. The wool on the Mareep is pink, and that translates to the next two stages. The skin for both Flaaffy and Ampharos remains pink, but different shades.
When should I evolve Flaaffy?
There’s no particular time a trainer should try to evolve it. It evolves to Ampharos at level 30 and there’s no real advantage to waiting for any specific time. It doesn’t learn any moves faster by waiting for a certain level to evolve. It is best to do it as soon as possible because it gets significantly stronger when it evolves to Ampharos. A final evolution is almost always better to get sooner than later.
Conclusion
Flaaffy is one of the stronger Electric type Pokemon and has access to a few really strong moves as well as having really good base stats despite it not being a final evolution. Flaaffy, which becomes Ampharos, may be hard to find but getting a Mareep to level 15 and then reaching level 30 isn’t a tall task to reach final evolution.
