Appearance

Florges have five forms depending on the flower it holds. It is based on nymphs, which are the personification of nature; hence the fairy typing and not grass like many assume it to be. Its head is round and consists of two eyes and a mouth with stem-like eyebrows which extend upwards. It also has two long ears on either side and the head is entirely white.

Around its head is a fluffy comfortable bouquet of flowers, who’s colour can be red, yellow, blue, orange or white depending on the flower it holds when evolving. It stands up like a human and its body looks like it is sprouting out of nature, entirely green apart from its arms, which are white. The Pokemon can only be female and has feminine characteristics.

Behavior

Florges are territorial Pokemon. They have territories for themselves and you can immediately recognize if you are in one as it will be completely covered in well maintained flowers. The power these Pokemon have are obtained from basking in these flowers, which provides this Pokemon with energy. It has an incredible lifespan and it devotes its entire lifetime protecting these gardens. These Pokemon also have good synergy with humans. In ancient times, governors of castles would invite Florges in order to design the castle gardens and they would gladly agree.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Florges is a pure Fairy type so its weaknesses are pretty basic. It is weak against Poison, and Steel type moves and is resistant to Fighting, Bug, and Dark type attacks. Not only that, it is also immune to Dragon type moves.

Best moveset

Florges is a strong fairy type with really high Special Defense. She can deal decent damage using Moonblast due to its high Special Attack. While she can deal decent damage with that, she can be an incredibly useful support. With Synthesis, she can keep herself alive while spamming Moonblast. If her allies or herself are affected by status moves, she can use Aromatherapy to easily heal. Finally, if you feel the Pokemon is about to faint, use Wish to provide health to a Pokemon that already took damage by switching that Pokemon in the next turn. Never lead with a Florges with this kit as it will render half her move kit useless.

How to catch Florges in Pokemon Go?

This Pokemon is not yet available in Pokemon Go.

Trivia

  1. Just like nymphs, the creatures which Florges are based on, they can live for a really long time. They live for hundreds of years protecting their gardens.
  2. Of all Fairy Types, Florges has the highest special defense including legendaries.
  3. The fluffy thing around Florges’ head is actually a bouquet of flowers. This might be because the region Kalos is based on France, which has Paris, also known as the city of romance.

FAQs

Why isn't Florges a grass type?

Florges are not based on a flower, but rather use flowers as just an accessory. They are based on nymphs, a mythical creature and hence a fairy type.

Is Florges good competitively?

While not being in OU tier, Florges can be used competitively in RU and UU with a high special defense and healing capabilities.

Is Florges in Pokemon sword?

No. Florges did not make the cut with Dexit. This Pokemon can not be transferred to this game and has no Pokedex entries as well.

Conclusion

Florges is a nymph dedicated to protecting its garden. It basks in those flowers, which give it power and it uses that power to protect it, forming mutualism between these two. Apart from protecting these flowers, Florges also designs gardens upon being commissioned and does a wonderful job at it. Competitively, this Pokemon is rarely used but still a strong option.
