Introduced in generation four, with the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl games, Gliscor is a dual type ground and flying Pokemon. It is the final evolution of Gligar and requires some unique conditions in order to evolve. Gliscor is classified by the Pokedex as the “Fang Scorpion Pokemon”. This guide will showcase Gliscor’s capabilities in battle, its appearances in the anime, as well as other general facts about Gliscor.
About Gliscor
Gliscor is fairly unique for a few reasons. Firstly, it was introduced two generations after its base, standalone evolution was introduced. Secondly, it has an odd typing with ground and flying being paired together. Thirdly, it evolves from Gligar once it is leveled up holding a Razor Fang item during the night. Gliscor first appeared in the anime in the Diamond and Pearl season of the anime with the episode Riding the Winds of Change!. The Pokedex mentions its aptitude for flying as it can fly across the globe with one well caught breeze.

Appearance
Gliscor is what would appear to be a combination of a bat and a scorpion. It has two scorpion-like pincers as hands, a barbed tail but also has bat wings and ears. Most of Gliscor’s body is purple with red undertones as well as black wings. Gliscor’s eyes are yellow throughout and a few stripes can be found throughout its body. Despite being a bat/scorpion-like Pokemon it is quite large at 6 feet and 7 inches, or 2 meters, tall.
Behavior
Gliscor had many opportunities to appear in the anime thanks to its inclusion on Ash’s team in the Diamond and Pearl season. Throughout its appearances, it has shown a very wide range of emotions while being on screen. It would often have a mischievous grin or cry when faced with battle and also display an ineptitude for flying. This sets it apart from other wild Gliscor as the Pokedex makes them out to be masters of flying. Gliscor’s animated personality showcases how its relationship with its trainer can change a Pokemon’s demeanor.
Strengths and Weaknesses
A well built Gliscor is something to be feared. While in the wild it can be countered with water and ice type moves, in competitive play it can be very difficult to get through a Gliscor. With impressive physical resistances, the Poison Heal ability, as well as a decent speed stat, Gliscor can wreak havoc on your team. It is 4x weak to ice type moves so make sure you can cover Gliscor or keep it away from other ice type Pokemon. Gliscor will resist fighting, poison, and bug type moves.
Shiny Gliscor
To distinguish between regular and Shiny Gliscor, keep an eye on its accented colors. While Shiny Gliscor’s base color palette changes slightly, the red from regular Gliscor is changed to yellow on Shiny Gliscor. Not much else changes between the regular and Shiny Gliscor variants, but it is enough to be able to distinguish between the two. Like all shiny Pokemon, Shiny Gliscor gains a starry animation upon entering battle.
Best Moveset
Ever since Gliscor’s inclusion in generation four, it has become a menace in competitive Pokemon battles. Gliscor is one of the best wallbreakers you can run on your team with access to powerful abilities and moves. The Poison Heal ability essentially removes a status effect option from your opponents while also providing a healing effect to your bulky sweeper through Toxic Orb as a held item. Consider running Swords Dance, Roost, Earthquake, and Facade/Ice Fang to get through your opponent’s team. Swords Dance will ensure that Gliscor can get through the tankiest Pokemon. Roost will extend the time Gliscor spends on the field. Finally, Earthquake, Facade and Ice Fang can be used as damaging options.

How to Catch Gliscor in Pokemon Go
In order to obtain a Gliscor in Pokemon Go, the easiest way would be to obtain a Gligar to eventually evolve into Gliscor. Like all final evolution Pokemon, they are quite rare to encounter in the wild and even then their IVs would not be strong enough to warrant an investment. You will need to capture enough Gligars to obtain 100 candies to evolve into Gliscor but you will also need a Sinnoh Stone like many other generation four Pokemon. Unfortunately, it does not seem as if Gliscor has appeared in raid battles previously, which makes it quite rare to encounter.

Trivia
- Despite Gliscor nearly doubling the size of its pre-evolution, it is almost one third of Gligar’s weight.
- Of all the Pokemon available in the franchise, Gliscor is one of the only Pokemon with access to the Poison Heal ability.
- The name Gliscor is likely a combination of the words glide and scorpion.
FAQ
Why is Gliscor so good?
Gliscor has been able to enjoy its place in top brackets thanks to the ability Poison Heal, Toxic Orb and a good statline to help it get through walls. Its access to powerful moves like Swords Dance and Facade while also disabling poison as a negative effect makes it very resilient versus many teams.
How does Gligar evolve into Gliscor?
In order to evolve your Gligar into Gliscor it requires a few unique conditions. First, it needs to have the Razor Claw held item, and it needs to be leveled at nighttime in your respective game. There is no particular level threshold you have to meet, and instead you can evolve your Gligar as soon as you obtain a Razor Claw item.
What is the evolution of Gliscor?
Gliscor is the final evolution and thus there is no Pokemon that Gliscor evolves into. In order to evolve your Gligar into Gliscor, you will need to level Gligar at nighttime while it is holding a Razor Claw item. This is a two stage evolution which means that Gligar will evolve into Gliscor and that is that. There is no other evolution beyond Gliscor.
