With Pokemon GO's GO Fest 2024 Global event having concluded in most parts of the world, many players are reflecting on their experience. This event and the raid-focused content it offered required many players to leave their houses to gain the most from the experience. Since the event takes place in the middle of July, the climate can be incredibly warm in many places where the game is popular.
This has led some players on the game's subreddit to consider whether Niantic should move this event to a time when the climate is a bit more agreeable.
In a post, user xHAcoreRDx sarcastically asked the community if they were having fun with GO Fest 2024 during the hottest time of the summer season. This relatable post led to many players venting their frustration.

User Astral_Borne replied, saying that such heat is unhealthy and can lead to many players' smart devices overheating faster. With Niantic offering a premium ticket for $15, it is disappointing that the company expects users to spend money while having to play under such conditions.
Various users on the subreddit shared their experiences of how the bad weather impacted their gameplay. User Reivene, meanwhile, said they experienced heavy rain during the GO Fest 2024 Global run time. Given how this event only comes once per year, it can be disappointing when players are unable to participate due to factors beyond their control.
User Bendodge13 brought up an interesting point about hosting the yearly GO Fest at a different time of year. While it is unlikely that it will move to the winter, since the game already has the yearly Pokemon GO Tour event in February, GO Fest could wait another month. Hosting it in late August or early September may allow for cooler temperatures, as it would be closer to fall.
However, GO Fest and its July release date could imply that Niantic wants to keep GO Fests around the time of the game's anniversary so that the summer content remains consistent. It may also be seen as an expansion of the game's anniversary celebration.
Best ways to play Pokemon GO from home to beat the summer heat
While Pokemon GO may be a geocaching game, there are a few ways to play from the comfort of one's own home. The game's competitive Battle League offers an intense PvP experience with three different tiers of play, each housing stronger monsters than the last.
Additionally, players can spend Pokecoins to purchase a Remote Raid Pass. These items allow players to join most raids from anywhere in the world, as long as they were invited by another player on their friends list.
