Appearance
Golisopod is a large, human-shaped arthropod Pokemon covered in a hard white shell. While it possesses three sets of arms on its upper torso, only the back set is large and has claws forming something close to fingers. Its face and antennae are very small compared to its bulky body and are a dark purple color.
Behavior
Golisopod is a powerful Pokemon, with claws that can cleave through enemies easily and a shell that is harder than diamond. Despite this power, it's a very docile Pokemon and lives peacefully in seaside caves. However when it does turn up to a fight, Golisopod will do anything to win, no matter how cruel or underhanded the tactic is.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Golisopod’s bug/water typing is shared with only a few other Pokemon and all of them prove that the matchups of this type combination are incredibly beneficial. It is resistant against fighting, ground, steel, water, and ice type moves and takes half damage from them. It is weak to flying, rock, and electric type moves and takes double damage from them.
Shiny Golisopod
Shiny Golisopod is the rare, recolored version of Golisopod and there are small differences between itself and its normal form. The face and antennae of a Shiny Golisopod are red rather than purple and the small, dark green markings are now blue. Shiny Golisopod also has a more subtle change to the color of its shell with it now a lighter color than its normal form.
Best Moveset for Golisopod
Offensive Revenge: Golisopod’s signature move, First Impression, is the best part of this Pokemon. The move ensures that it attacks first and therefore makes up for Golisopod’s slow speed stat, however it can only be used when it is first sent out. But combined with the Emergency Exit ability, it can use this move multiple times over the span of a match.
First Impression | Leech Life |
Liquidation | Aqua Jet/Spikes |
How to Catch Golisopod in Pokemon Go
Golisopod is not in Pokemon Go yet and therefore it is unknown how to obtain it. However it is possible to speculate as it is a rather standard Pokemon. It’s likely it will simply evolve from Wimpod with the use of 100 or 200 Wimpod candy and Wimpod will likely appear where other bug and water types appear.

FAQs
Is Golisopod good competitively?
Golisopod is an iconic competitive Pokemon, as it is known to be one of the best revenge killers in the series. Golisopod’s powerful First Impression move as well as its bulk makes it a formidable foe especially when used by a knowledgeable trainer.
Who is better, Golisopod or Araquanid?
While both Pokemon have effective uses, Araquanid fails when it comes to being countered by anything that denies the use of water type moves. Golisopod can effectively use more than just water type moves making it far more useful than Araquanid.
Conclusion
While sometimes it is thought that Golisopod and its pre-evolution are seen as fearful Pokemon which run from battles when outmatched, this is untrue. Golisopod is highly strategic and its retreat is incredibly effective when used right. And even when it can't leave the battle, it will not go down without putting up a fight.
