Appearance
Gourgeist is a ghostly Pokémon with four sizes: Small Size, Average Size, Large Size, and Super Size. Its body is a dark brown pumpkin with a bright orange-yellow face carved into the front and a pair of gnarled legs. The face consists of two triangular eyes and a smiling mouth and there is a small triangular cutout above the mouth as a nose. Protruding from the top of the pumpkin is its slender orange-brown head, which has bright yellow eyes and a small mouth but no visible nose.
Gourgeist has long light pink hair with arm-shaped tendrils that frame her face and bangs that often cover one eye. On his head he has a crescent-shaped lock that is brown on top; this tuft resembles a pumpkin stalk. Its upper body may also be based on the candles within jack-o'-lanterns themselves, with the curl being its wick and its hair-like extensions its dripping wax. It could also be viewed as a mere extension of the shape and the curl on top being its stem. The lower body's different color might also reference the tradition of decorating gourds with paint. Their body proportions can be passed on to their offspring.
Behavior
On a new moon night, Gourgeist wanders the city streets while singing a spooky song. Anyone who hears its song will be cursed and it is also known to sing with joy as it watches the prey trapped in its arms. Gouriest's four different sizes determine who is taken with them into the afterlife. Small Gourgeist prefer to target adults pretending to be children while the Large Gourgiest prefers to take children by posing as adults. Super Size Gourgeists are not picky and will appeal to everyone as a potential target. Gourgeist and its pre-evolution, Pumpkaboo, are the only known Pokemon capable of learning Trick-or-Treat.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Gourgeist has different stats depending on its size variations, though its base stat total remains consistent. As Gourgeist gets larger, its HP and special attack stats go up and its speed stat goes down. As a ghost and grass-type, Gourgeist is weak to flying, ghost, fire, ice, and dark-types, is immune to normal and fighting-types, and is resistant to ground, water, grass, and electric-types.
Best moveset
Trick-or-Treat adds ghost-typing to the opponent, which makes the opponent weak to ghost-type attacks. Phantom Force is a STAB (same-type attack bonus) move which allows Gourgeist to disappear for one turn before attacking. Seed Bomb is a grass-type STAB move which can serve as type coverage and finally, Return serves as happiness-based type coverage.
