Appearance
Grovyle is a bipedal Pokemon that is shaped similarly to some species of dinosaur. It is mostly green, though its underside is red with a green stripe across its midsection, similar to a belt. It has birdlike feet that are very powerful and hands with two claws with a long green leaf flowing out of the top of its head. It also has three leaves coming out of its wrists.
Behavior
The leaves all over Grovyle’s body allows it to camouflage itself against enemies. It is an excellent climber that is able to leap from branch to branch with ease and lives in forests so it can easily camouflage itself.
Strengths and Weaknesses
As a Grass Pokémon, Grovyle is weak against Flying, Ice Poison, Bug and Fire moves and will take twice the normal damage from them. It is not immune to any types but is resistant to Ground, Water, Grass and Electric-types, which will do half the damage. There is no advantage or disadvantage with Normal, Fighting, Dark, Dragon, Rock, Fairy, Steel, Ghost and Psychic types.
Best moveset (Grovyle)
Grovyle has a lot of strong moves including Focus Punch, which is a move that has 150 power and 100% accuracy. Here are Grovyle’s best moves: Focus Punch fails if the user takes damage before it hits, Double Edge has 33% recoil while Giga Drain recovers 50% of the damage dealt. Finally, Leaf Storm lowers the user’s Special Attack by 2.

How to catch Grovyle in Pokemon Go?
Grovyle can be found in parks, farmlands, forests and other grassy areas, and it has a higher spawn rate during sunny weather as well. Treecko, which is the unevolved form, is a more common spawn and can also be found in garden areas. It evolves to Grovyle at 25 candies and then to Sceptile at 100 candies but it has not been a raid boss as of yet.
Trivia
- Grovyle resembles a dinosaur, more specifically the Dromaeosaurus.
- Grovyle is a combination of the words grove (like forest) and reptile.
- Each member of the evolutionary family shares aspects with the tree gecko, which is the inspiration for Treecko.
FAQs
How big is Grovyle?
Grovyle stands just over two feet tall and weighs just under 50 pounds. Sceptile gets a considerable amount taller, standing over five feet tall. It also more than doubles in weight to 115 pounds.
Is Grovyle in Pokemon Sword and Shield?
Yes, but with a catch. Pokemon Sword and Shield players cannot ordinarily acquire Treecko, Grovyle or Sceptile. However, with the Crown Tundra DLC, it can be acquired in Dynamax Adventures. It has a 100% catch rate once it is defeated in a den.
Is there a shiny Grovyle in Pokemon Go?
Yes. In all three evolutionary stages, the primary color is teal rather than green. The skin for each stage is turned teal, rather than green and the leaf accessories are red, similar to the red shade that is on the original Grovyle.
When should I evolve Grovyle?
There’s no particular time a trainer should try to evolve it. It evolves to Sceptile at level 36 and there’s no real advantage to waiting for any specific time. It doesn’t learn any moves faster by waiting for a certain level to evolve. It is best to do it as soon as possible because it gets significantly stronger when it evolves to Grovyle. A final evolution is almost always better to get sooner than later. It is a starter Pokemon which is good to evolve as soon as possible.
Conclusion
Grovyle is a strong, but very popular Pokemon. Being a starter Pokemon from Generation III, it is very common and a lot of players choose it. Treecko, the unevolved form, Torchic and Mudkip are the easiest Pokemon to get in those games, but they are still very good.
