Altered Forme Giratina in Pokemon GO debuted during the Halloween 2018 event. Since then, it has been possible to encounter this Pokemon with the said methods many times. From December 26, 2024, at 10 am to January 4, 2025, at 10 am local time, the creature will emerge as a 5-star Raid Boss in battles and be available as an encounter award of the GO Battle League. Also, it will have its own Raid Hour on January 1, from 6 - 7 pm in your local time.

As a Ghost- and Dark-type Pocket Monster, Altered Forme Giratina is weak to Dark-, Dragon-, Fairy-, Ghost-, and Ice-type moves. It will have a maximum catch CP of 1,931 without weather boost and 2,414 when the weather is Foggy or Windy.

Yes, Altered Giratina is available in shiny variations in the game. It was released on September 23, 2019. All encounters with the creature have a 1-in-20 or 5% chance of being shiny.
