Armored Mewtwo in Pokemon GO remains one of the rarest pocket monsters to ever grace the mobile title. Having been available only twice during the app's eight years of existence, this unique form of the Gen I Legendary Pokemon has been largely absent, both from Pokemon GO's roadmap and most players' catch list. Trading is the only way to rectify the latter.

Armored Mewtwo debuted in Pokemon GO on July 10, 2019. In 5-star raids, it boasted a CP of around 41299 and had a maximum CP of 1821 (or 2276 if weather-boosted) when caught. Shiny Armored Mewtwo is not available in Pokemon GO. It has been available twice as follows:

  • 2019: July 10 to July 31
  • 2020: February 25 to March 2

We will discuss further below regarding the only way you can get your hands on Armored Mewtwo in Pokemon GO.

Trading Armored Mewtwo in Pokemon GO

Trading Armored Mewtwo in Pokemon GO requires a Special Trade. These trades allow trainers to perform the action with Legendary Pokemon, Purified Pokemon, Shiny Pokemon, Pokemon they haven't registered in their Pokedex yet, or even Mythical Pokemon that are allowed. Special Trades are limited to one per day, with the restriction sometimes being lifted by Niantic for events.

Keeping all of this in mind, you will need 1,000,000 Stardust to perform an Armored Mewtwo Special Trade in Pokemon GO. We are assuming here you are Good Friend with the trainer you are trading with and Armored Mewtwo isn't registered on your Pokedex.

Depending on the Friendship Level you share, the Stardust requirement chart for this trade is as follows:

Friendship Level
Stardust requirement
Good Friend1,000,000
Great Friend800,000
Ultra Friend80,000
Best Friend40,000

As you can see, the Stardust cost is inversely proportional to the Friendship Level you share. You will be able to find Pokemon GO trainers willing to part with Armored Mewtwo over social media like Reddit. We advise you to use caution before engaging in any such trade as you will have to meet the person in real life to execute the transaction.

For now, this remains the only way to get Armored Mewtwo in Pokemon GO. We only hope that Niantic reintroduces the powerful beast soon.
