How to get Carracosta in Pokemon GO and can it be shiny?

One way to get Carracosta in Pokemon GO is to evolve Tirtouga by feeding it Pokemon Candies. It is a dual Water and Rock-type Pocket Monster whose maximum combat power (CP) is 2964. Like its base form, Shiny Carracosta has an exact stat spread. Both are highly sought-after in the game due to their limited availability and rarity.

Niantic debuted the regular form of Carracosta with the release of the Trade Evolution mechanic on January 10, 2020. Its shiny variant was introduced during the Adventure Week 2022 on June 7, 2022. The developer has announced that Shadow Carracosta in Pokemon GO will appear for the first time as a part of Adventure Week: Taken Over on August 8, 2024.

There are only two modes to get your hands on Carracosta in Pokemon GO:

• Evolve Tritouga
• Trade with your friends

1) Evolve Tritouga

A Tritouga is a dual Water- and Rock-type Pocket Monster that can evolve into a Carracosta. To do this, you need to feed the first stage 50 Candies. When Candies are given to consume, the monster automatically goes through a transformation-like phase and becomes Carracosta.

Pokemon Candies are challenging to collect in GO, but you can take these steps to get them:

1. Set Tirtouga as a Buddy Pokemon to gather its consumables from the wild.
2. Trade the creature with your friends.
3. Catch it in the wild.
4. Transfer unwanted Tirtouga to Professor Willow.
5. Partake in events like Adventure Week 2024.

2) Trade with your friends

You can acquire a Carracosta in Pokemon GO by trading with your friends. If they have this monster in their account, you can ask them if they would give it to you.

Trade is only possible when both parties meet in person. That said, this is how one can get Carracosta if they don’t have Candies to evolve their Tirtouga.
