How to get Klink in Pokemon GO, and can it be shiny?

Pokemon GO introduced Klink during the event "A Unova Unveiling" on September 16, 2019, and it has been part of the mobile title ever since. However, if you don't have one, how can you get it? Plus, can Klink appear in its shiny variant? Fortunately, there are multiple ways to find Klink in GO, and its shiny form can appear just about anywhere its base form can.

However, Klink isn't exactly the most common creature to find in Pokemon GO, so you'll want to know where to look for it to ensure you have success at catching it and even its shiny variant if you're a little lucky.

Where to find Klink in Pokemon GO

Klink has appeared sporadically in Pokemon GO across many different aspects of gameplay. This Steel-type Unovan Pokemon has appeared in the following parts of the game in the past and occasionally in the present:

• Wild Encounters
• Egg Hatches
• Tier-1 Raid Battles
• Research Task Rewards

Wild Encounters

Normally, Klink can't appear in the wild in Pokemon GO during ordinary gameplay. However, it has appeared in the wild briefly during events including GO Fest 2022 as well as during the Timeless Travels season of gameplay. The next opportunity you'll have to find Klink will likely be the Ultra Unlock: Strength of Steel event on July 25-30, 2024, where it will once again appear as a wild spawn.

Egg Hatches

In the past, Klink has appeared as a hatchable Pokemon from 7km eggs during GO Fest 2022 and 10km eggs from September 2019 to March 2022. However, Klink hasn't been seen as an egg hatch since, so it may be some time before Niantic reintroduces it to the egg pool during an event or during ordinary gameplay.

Tier-1 Raid Battles

Klink has been a semi-regular appearance in Pokemon GO's Tier-1 raids and is quite easy to defeat with Fighting-, Fire-, and Ground-type Pokemon/moves. It hasn't appeared since approximately April 25, 2024, but Klink will be returning as a Tier-1 raid boss during the Ultra Unlock: Strength of Steel event. Since it's a pretty easy boss to defeat, you can reliably farm Klink solo and catch one worth keeping.

Research Task Rewards

Every so often, Klink can be found as a reward for completing Field and Special/Timed Research Tasks. The bulk of its appearances occurred throughout 2022, but it was a reward for the Field Research Task "Win 3 Raids" during the Hidden Gems season. Fortunately, there's an opportunity to encounter Klink by completing research that's quickly approaching.

With the Ultra Unlock: Strength of Steel event, you can complete Field Research and the event's Timed Research to encounter themed Pokemon for the event, including Klink.

How to find Shiny Klink in Pokemon GO

As a Pokemon that doesn't naturally appear in the wild out of events, the community has clocked the shiny appearance rate for Klink in Pokemon GO at roughly 1/64, though its appearance rates can be boosted during events. Outside of events, finding Shiny Klink is relegated to whichever form of gameplay it's currently appearing in, which tends to be Tier-1 raids more often than not.

Fortunately, the upcoming Ultra Unlock: Strength of Steel event is an excellent opportunity to find an abundance of Klink, something that normally wouldn't be possible during ordinary non-event gameplay. With that in mind, it's recommended to roam the wild during the event while completing research from Pokestops and the event itself and raiding Klink's Tier-1 raids as often as possible.

These methods won't guarantee that a Shiny Klink appears during the event, but they'll give you a very good chance of finding at least one. Otherwise, you'll likely have to keep your eye on the Pokemon GO calendar to determine when Klink will return and in what aspect of gameplay it will return to.
