How to get Shadow Regice in Pokemon GO, and can it be shiny

Shadow Regice in Pokemon GO is a shadow variation of Regice, a Legendary Pokemon from the Hoenn region. Developer Niantic debuted this critter at the start of Team GO Rocket Takeover on March 25, 2023. During this event, trainers had to battle against Giovanni and rescue Shadow Regice from his clutches to add it to their collection. That said, the 5-star Shadow Raids of the Ice-Berg Pokemon have not been hosted in the game till now.

As we say goodbye to Max Out and welcome Dual Destiny in December 2024, Shadow Regice will arrive in Pokemon GO via 5-star Shadow Raids for the first time. Thankfully, these raids will also introduce Shiny Shadow Regice, and here is how you can obtain these Pokemon.

How to get Shadow Regice in Pokemon GO

There are two specific ways to obtain Shadow Regice in the game:

• Defeat Shadow Raid Battles
• Wait for Team GO Rocket to return it

Shadow Regice 5-star Shadow Raids will take place every Saturday and Sunday throughout December 2024 and will be available to join on Dec 7-8, 14-15, 21-22, and 28-29. You can beat this Shadow Legendary Pokemon to earn an encounter with Shadow Regice or its shiny form (if you're lucky).

As an Ice-type Pokemon, Shadow Regice is 160% weak against Fighting-, Fire-, Rock-, and Steel-type moves. Therefore, if you want to defeat Shadow Regice in Pokemon GO, you must use these moves to exploit its weaknesses.

Here are the top 10 counters to take down Shadow Regice in the game:

• Dawn Wings Necrozma: Metal Claw and Sunsteel Strike
• Mega Lucario: Force Palm and Aura Sphere
• Mega Charizard: Fire Spin and Blast Burn

During the Let’s GO event of March 2023, Giovanni was seen using Shadow Regice for himself. Players had to battle with him to rescue this Shadow critter from his possession.

Once freed, it could be added to the collection list. That said, if Niantic decides to surprise us with events like this, we may get our hands on Shadow Regice in Pokemon GO yet again.

As of this writing, the only way to come across a Shiny Shadow Regice in GO is to defeat 5-star Shadow Raids throughout December 2024. Do note that earning such an encounter will be challenging, as its shiny odds will be put at 1-in-20.
