As such, players should familiarize themselves with encountering the base variant first. This event will feature a drastically increased spawn rate for the creature, likely being the only wild spawn for the event's duration. Shiny Popplio will have a 1-in-25 or 4% chance of showing up.

Some factors can increase this spawn rate even further. Hunting for Shiny Popplio in rainy weather can make a huge difference, as the weather condition increases the chance of Water-types like Popplio spawning. This can be done outside of the Community Day event as well to still improve one's chance of seeing Shiny Popplio.

Additionally, Incenses and Lure Modules can be used for a similar effect. Incenses work by attaching themselves to the player's avatar. Once attached, the item will increase the spawn rate of the area around the player as long as they are moving. Lure Modules are very similar, but attach to Pokestops and gym locations rather than the player.

Shiny Popplio in Pokemon GO will debut on August 31, 2024, along with the Popplio Community Day. These events boost the chance of Shiny Pokemon appearing. This means the event will make for the best opportunity to catch a Shiny Popplio.

While there is no way for players to directly boost the shiny odds by themselves, boosting the general spawn rates of an area can decrease the time it would take for a Shiny Popplio to spawn.

In addition to Incenses and Lure Modules, players can complete special raids during the Popplio Community Day event to increase the spawn rate around where it was challenged. This can be paired with the boost from Lure Modules.

However, while the likelihood of finding a Shiny Popplio in Pokemon GO will be high during the event, it does not mean one is guaranteed to appear. With enough patience, most trainers should have no trouble finding one, but those who find themsevles having an unlucky day may not find a shiny at all.
