Trainers can participate in the Aspiring Dragons Research Day on December 7, 2024, to get Swablu in Pokemon GO. There will also be increased odds of this Pokemon being Shiny from Research during this event. The Cotton Bird Pokemon is a highly sought-after monster in the game and uses 400 Swablu Candies to evolve into Altaria.

Niantic debuted Swablu at the start of the Hoenn Celebration event on February 9, 2018. Its shiny variation was also released on the same occasion. That said, we will now take a look at how you can get your hands on Swablu, alongside its shiny counterpart, in Pokemon Go.

The Aspiring Dragons Research Day will run from 2-5 pm local time on December 7, 2024. During this period, you can complete the Field Research Tasks that reward Swablu encounters.

Moreover, accessing event-exclusive Timed Research, which costs US$2.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), is another way to get your hands on this Normal and Flying-type pocket monster.

Do note that the chances of encountering Shiny Swablu on this day will be higher.

Different ways to get Swablu in Pokemon GO

You can get your hands on Swablu using these five methods:

  • Catch in the wild
  • Hatch Eggs
  • Defeat Raid Battles
  • Complete Research Tasks
  • Trade

1) Catch in the wild

The Weather Boost effect of Pokemon GO increases Swablu's wild spawn rates during Partly Cloudy and Windy weather. So, if you want one, you need to go to an area with these weather conditions. Moreover, the spawn rate can be boosted even further when you utilize the Lure Module and Incense, which attract pocket monsters to your location.

2) Hatch Eggs

Swablu in Pokemon GO is also available to hatch from 2 km, 5 km, and 7 km eggs. Most of the events that returned this critter via Pokemon eggs also offered bonuses, which reduced the time taken to hatch these items.

4) Defeat Raid Battles

As a Normal- and Flying-type raid Pokemon, Swablu is 160% weak to Electric-, Ice-, and Rock-type moves. In addition, it is 63% weak to Bug- and Grass-types as well as 39% to Ground- and Ghost-types.

Here are the top counters to Pokemon GO Swablu raids:

  • Mega Diancie: Rock Throw and Rock Slide
  • Thundurus Therian: Volt Switch and Wildbolt Storm
  • Shadow Rampardos: Smack Down and Rock Slide
  • Xurkitree: Thundershock and Discharge
  • Tyrantrum: Rock Throw and Meteor Beam
  • Shadow Mewtwo: Psycho Cut and Ice Beam
  • Shadow Raikou: Thundershock and Wild Charge

4) Complete Research Tasks

Events like the Aspiring Dragons Research Day offer research tasks that give you encounters with Swablu in Pokemon GO. Complete them to receive the reward.

5) Trade

Friends can exchange pocket monsters among themselves using the trading feature. If you have yet to register Swablu in your Pokedex, you will need to perform a Special Trade during a specific event. However, if you already have it in your Pokedex, you can receive a Swablu by spending some Stardust.
