Brionne is returning to Pokemon GO as a Four-Star Raid Boss during the upcoming Popplio Community Day on August 31. As such, many are wondering if they can take this boss on solo, without the need for other players like these battles are intended for.
Since Brionne is not a fully evolved Pokemon like most other Raid Bosses, players can take it on solo with relative ease as long as they have effective counters. Here is everything to know when attempting to solo-defeat the event Brionne Raid Boss in GO.

Here's some information about Brionne before players challenge it in Raid Battle:
- Type: Water
- Base Attack: 168
- Base Defense: 145
- Base Stamina: 155
- Fast attacks: Charm and Water Gun
- Charged attacks: Aqua Jet, Water Pulse, and Disarming Voice
- Weaknesses: Grass and Electric
Since Brionne is a pure Water-type —unlike its evolution, which is Water and Fairy— players only have to worry about bringing Electric and Grass-type Pokemon to this fight. Since it also lacks heavy burst damage through moves like Moonblast or Hydro Pump, defense is not a big priority either.
Here are some great counters to make this fight as easy as possible:
- Mega Vensaur with Vine Whip and Frenzy Plant
- Mega Manectric with Thunder Fang and Wild Charge
- Mega Ampharos with Charge Beam and Zap Cannon
- Zarude with Vine Whip and Power Whip
- Roserade with Razor Leaf and Grass Knot
While these are some of the best counters available for this fight, experienced raiders should still be able to vanquish Brionne solo with more accessible counters like Jolteon, Leafeon, and Luxray. Having a Mega Evolution will also make this battle much more comfortable, as the extra strength will guarantee players complete this fight within the given time limit.

Tips for solo defeating Brionne in Pokemon GO
If it has been a while since a particular counter on one's raid party has been used, revisiting their stat screen through the collection menu can be ideal. Here, players can upgrade their Pokemon in exchange for candies and stardust. Additionally, they can use Candy XLs for creatures already close to their max level.
If the battle ends up being a little harder than expected, healing items can be used on the player's raid party upon defeat. While it does cost precious seconds to revive one's team, it is possible to do so.
Another helpful tip is that charged attacks fired off by any Raid Boss can be dodged by swiping left or right on the screen. Since charged attacks are telegraphed by the text on-screen during battle, players can easily dodge Brionne's charged moves if they are taking too much damage.
