Defeating Shadow Manectric solo when it makes its return as a Three-Star Raid Boss during Pokemon GO's Adventure Week: Taken Over event is possible. While some players may want to avoid this challenge, opting to take the boss on with friends, there is a way to defeat Shadow Manectric single-handedly.
This creature is one of the many Pokemon from the Hoenn region, with many main series fans fondly remembering it from using it throughout their playthrough of the region's respective game. Shadow Manectric was also available in the main series once before, having been included in the Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness spin-off title for the Gamecube.
For players to have the chance to add Shadow Manectric to their team, they will need to know some information regarding the monster as well as how they can counter it. Here is everything to know about defeating this entity solo.

How to solo defeat Shadow Manectric in Pokemon GO
Before jumping into an optimal strategy or counters, trainers should have a bit of a run-down on Shadow Manectric's general information so they know what they are getting into:
- Type: Electric
- Combat Power: 11,628
- Attack: 215
- Defense: 127
- Fast Attacks: Snarl, Charge Beam, Thunder Fang
- Charged Attacks: Thunder, Wild Charge, Flame Burst, Overheat, Psychic Fangs
- Weakness: Ground
Once the fight begins, you will have 180 seconds to take down Shadow Manectric. However, since its defense is low — made even lower by the Shadow Boost — you can easily take down the boss in the allotted time.
Since Shadow Manectric is only weak to Ground-type attacks, you should challenge the boss in sunny weather. This is because Pokemon GO's weather-boosting mechanic increases the damage of Ground, Fire, and Grass attacks when it's sunny.
Here are some of the best counters for dealing with Shadow Manectric, along with their best movesets:
- Primal Groudon with Mud Shot and Precipice Blades
- Mega Garchomp with Mud Shot and Earth Power
- Shadow Excadrill with Mud Slap and Scorching Sands
- Shadow Rhyperior with Mud Slap and Earthquake
- Shadow Mamoswine with Mud Slap and High Horsepower
The higher these counters' stats are, the more efficient they will be. So, be sure to use the ones with the best IVs and the highest Combat Power.
Tips and tricks to solo defeat Shadow Manectric in Pokemon GO:
- Stardust and a monster's respective candy can be used in conjunction to increase its Combat Power and stats, so having a surplus of these items and using them before this battle with the Shadow Pokemon will help significantly.
- This fight is meant to be taken down with a small group, so it is likely that some of your creatures will faint during the fight. As such, you should have some Max Revives on hand to keep their party healthy.
- Dodging can be an easy thing to overlook in Raid Battles. If players find their party taking too much damage, they should swipe either left or right on their screen to dodge the boss's Charged Attacks.
