With the release of Pokemon GO's Adventure Week: Taken Over event set to start on August 8, many players are preparing for battles against powerful Shadow Pokemon. One of the many Shadow Pokemon players can find through Raid Battles, during the event is Shadow Vibrava, the pre-evolved form of Flygon.
While these raids are meant to be taken on in groups, some trainers may feel ambitious, wanting to take the boss down by themselves. Thankfully, this is possible in the case of Vibrava, but trainers will need to exploit the creature's biggest weakness.
Here is everything to know about soloing the Shadow Vibrava Raid Boss in Pokemon GO.

How to solo defeat Shadow Vibrava in Pokemon GO
Before getting into the main strategy and counters players should use, here is some information about Shadow Vibrava that trainers should know:
- Type: Dragon and Ground
- Attack: 134 (Higher with Shadow Boost)
- Defense: 99 (lower with Shadow Boost)
- Fast Attacks: Dragon Breath, Mud Shot, and Sand Attack
- Charged Attacks: Bulldoze, Bug Buzz, Sand Tomb, and Scorching Sands
- Weaknesses: Dragon, Fairy, and Ice
While the time limit of 300 seconds can seem daunting to players who are inexperienced at raiding solo, this is plenty of time to take down Shadow Vibrava, since it is so frail and an unevolved Pokemon. Since both of its typings are weak to Ice-type attacks, creatures with access to the element are the best counters against Shadow Vibrava.
Here are the best counters players can use against Pokemon GO's Shadow Vibrava Raid Boss, as well as their movesets:
- Galarian Darmanitan with Ice Fang and Avalanche
- Shadow Mamoswine with Powder Snow and Avalanche
- Shadow Weavile with Ice Shard and Avalanche
- Mega Abomasnow with Powder Snow and Blizzard
- Glaceon with Frost Breath and Avalanche
These counters are both strong and relatively easy to come by for many hardcore trainers. Weavile and Glaceon should be relatively easy to come by for many new players as well.
Tips and tricks to solo defeat Shadow Vibrava in Pokemon GO
- It helps to have each creature as leveled-up as possible, so it would be a good idea to have a surplus of Stardust and Candies.
- Raid performance can be greatly impacted by internet connection, so it is important to monitor data signals or internet strength before and while battling.
- Raid Boss Charged Attacks are telegraphed, and can be dodged by swiping the screen; if trainers find their creatures taking too much damage, they should try to incorporate dodging into their strategy.
Following this guide, players should be able to take down Shadow Vibrava with relative ease in Three-Star Shadow Raids. However, it always helps to bring at least one other experienced trainer along, as these battles were meant to be done in groups.
