Appearance
Inkay is blue and squid-like. Its color is similar to the color of blue ink, fitting because of the squid comparisons. Its head is transparent, with a red shade showing through and it has several yellow circles there, too. Its tentacles are directly attached and come from the bottom of its body, though it has such a small body that it’s all one part.
Behavior
Inkay’s lights on its head are used to weaken and daze enemies. Those who stare into it will lose their will to fight and this is how it escapes from attackers it can’t beat. It can also use the lights to attract prey before attacking it.
Strengths and Weaknesses
As a Dark and Poison type Pokémon, Inkay is weak to Fairy, which does twice as much damage, and Bug types, which will do four times as much damage. It is immune to Psychic but is not resistant to any Pokemon types. There is no advantage or disadvantage for Normal, Fighting, Ghost, Steel, Ice, Dragon, Flying, Dark, Fire, Poison, Water, Ground, Rock, Electric and Grass types.
Best Moveset
Inkay has a lot of strong moves including Superpower, which is a move that has 120 power and 100% accuracy. Here are Inkay’s best moves; Superpower lowers the user’s Attack and Defense by 1, Thunderbolt has 100% accuracy and a 10% chance to paralyze the target. Foul Play uses the target’s Attack stat in the damage calculation and finally, Flamethrower has 100% accuracy and a 10% chance to burn the target.

How to catch Inkay in Pokemon Go?
For a long time, Inkay and Malamar were not in the game. Recently, they made their debut during a short event in which Inkay was fairly popular and many players had the chance to get enough candies to evolve it. Right now, it can be found in and around marshes and wetlands as well as during foggy weather. Inkay will evolve to Malamar with 25 candies and when the phone is turned upside down (it needs to have orientation unlocked).
Trivia
- Inkay’s evolution process is completely unique. No other Pokemon requires the user to do something outside the game to evolve.
- Prior to Inkay’s introduction, its evolution would have been impossible. The 3DS was the first Nintendo system that was capable of being turned upside down and recognizing that it is upside down.
- Inkay and Malamar are the only Pokemon in Water 2 Egg Group that aren’t Water types.

Conclusion
Inkay is one of the most unique Pokemon in the entire Pokedex. Its evolution method is totally unique and unprecedented. It has access to some solid moves and its base stats are decent, so it’s not a Pokemon you would want to pass on. It will make a solid addition to a team or Pokedex.
