Is Eelektross with Volt Switch good in Pokemon GO Battle League?

No, while Volt Switch improves Eelektross' viability in Pokemon GO Battle League, it does not give it enough of a boost to turn it into a meta pick. Volt Switch is an Electric-type Fast Attack that is an upgrade from the creature's other options—Spark and Acid.

With Volt Switch equipped, Eelektross wins 18 out of 42 meta matchups in the Great League when both sides have one shield active. With two shields in play on both sides, the number of wins comes down to 14. This is even worse (13) when no shields are in play. The only time the creature goes positive is when it has a shield advantage.

Eelektross has similar results in the Ultra League as well. Eelektross with Volt Switch or without it should stay as far away from Pokemon GO's Master League as possible, as its primarily Electric move-centric moveset will find it hard to make a dent against the prevalent meta.

Is Eelektross with Volt Switch good in Pokemon GO Gyms and raids?

No, Eelektross with Volt Switch remains a mediocre PvE attacker in Niantic's mobile game. The creature already had access to Spark, and the addition of Volt Switch increases its damage output and energy-generation speed only slightly, which is not enough to drive it to the position of the best Electric-type raid attackers.

That said, Eelektross' mono Electric-typing and impressive offensive stats can make it a powerful Pokemon GO Gym defender.

How to get Volt Switch Eelektross in Pokemon GO

To get an Eelektross that knows the Fast Attack Volt Switch, you must evolve Eelektrik during the Pokemon GO Tynamo Community Day on July 21, 2024, between 2 pm and 10 pm local time.

If you miss this opportunity, you must wait for another event that features this exclusive move or use an Elite Fast TM to teach it to the critter.
