Is Meowscarada with Frenzy Plant and Flower Trick worth using in Pokemon GO PvP?

In GO Battle League, Frenzy Plant is a 100 base power move (120 with STAB) that costs only 45 energy. This inflicts massive damage, especially when used by critters with high Attack, such as Meowscarada.

Previously, Meowscarada's best Grass-type Charged Attack was Grass Knot. With Frenzy Plant, the creature's overall performance improves in the Great and Ultra League. However, it still remains a sub-optimal pick in the current meta owing to its lack of bulk and absence of a viable Fast Attack.

Flower Trick in Pokemon GO PvP is a 30 base power move (36 with STAB) that costs 35 energy. The upside of using it is that it boosts the user's Attack by one stage. Unfortunately, it fails to hit the mark as Night Slash, Meowscarada's other STAB 35-energy move, outshines it by a mile.

In PvE battles, Frenzy Plant is a 100-damage move with a 2.5-second cooldown, therefore, bringing its DPS stat to a whopping 40. Meowscarada's damage output increases significantly with this attack, but it is still outclassed by other Shadow and Mega Pokemon.

Meowscarada's signature move Flower Trick falls short in terms of damage output to Frenzy Plant. Therefore, if you are using the creature in raids or as a Gym attacker, Frenzy Plant is the way to go.

You can get Meowscarada with Frenzy Plant and Flower Trick in Pokemon GO starting from January 5, 2025. The former can be obtained during certain events only. One example is the Sprigatito Community Day event. Evolving Floragato, during this time, will give you a Meowscarada with Frenzy Plant. Getting this move outside such events will require an Elite Charged TM.

Flower Trick is a non-exclusive move. Therefore, you can get it at any time by using a regular Charged TM on Meowscarada.
