With the release of Pokemon GO's Sprigatito Community Day, a new variant of the Grass-type Starter has arrived in the game. Players now have access to a version of the Sprigatito line sporting a new background themed around the Dual Destiny content season.
Some may be curious to know whether or not these new types of creatures count as "Special Trades," which can be expensive to trade with others. Due to it possessing a special characteristic similar to a costume, Niantic is counting these Sprigatito variants as Special Trades.
Here is everything to know about Sprigatito and Special Trades in Pokemon GO.

What are Special Trades in Pokemon GO?
Special Trades are types of trades in Pokemon GO that take place whenever a user wants to exchange certain special monsters like Legendaries, Shinies, and Ultra Beasts with another player. These trades can only be done once per day to make smurfing more difficult: this prevents players from trading all of their cheated-in creatures to a safe account from their modded one.
While they can typically be done once per day, certain events increase this limit to a varying amount. These Special Trades also cost a large amount of stardust, so trainers may have to use a few Star Pieces if they want to make large trades.

Everything to know about the new Sprigatito in Pokemon GO
The new Sprigatito background available from the recent Community Day is themed around the Dual Destiny season rather than the event itself. This background features a black and white checkered theme instead of the dynamic background each creature has based on its type.
Much like a costumed variant or a Shiny Pokemon, this special background does not give Sprigatito a competitive edge over its standard variant, really only serving as something for collectors to find. Sprigatito's final evolution, Meowscarada, also received two new charged attacks from this event.

Meanwhile, many competitive players have been waiting for Frenzy Plant, as most other starters have access to this attack. Those who do not are less viable by default. This attack has a base power of 100, costs 45 energy, and has no downside to using it.
Meowscarada also received its signature attack from the main series – Flower Trick. Another Grass-type charged attack, Flower Trick has a base power of 30 and a cost of 35 energy. However, it can buff Meowscarada's attack stat with each use, allowing it to stack buffs on itself before blasting an opponent with a hyper-charged Frenzy Plant.
