Typhlosion with Blast Burn returns to Pokemon GO on Cyndaquil Community Day Classic on June 22, 2024. The first time this move was available was during the November 2018 Community Day. The upcoming event will start at 2 pm local time and end at 5 pm local time.

Many will decide whether the Cyndaquil Community Day Classic is worth playing based on the PvP and PvE viability of Typhlosion with Blast Burn. This article covers everything you need to know about the critter's competitive prowess with and without this exclusive move.

Note: This article is subjective and based on the author's opinions.

Is Blast Burn Typhlosion good in Pokemon GO Battle League?

Blast Burn is a Fire-type Charged Attack that deals 110 base damage for 50 energy. Typhlosion's other Fire-type Charged Attacks are Fire Blast (which deals 140 damage for 80 energy) and Overheat (which deals 130 damage for 55 energy).

According to PvPoke simulations, Shadow Typhlosion (which is the preferred version of the critter) performs best in Pokemon GO's Great League and Ultra League when it is set up with a shield advantage. In this case, both Blast Burn and Overheat have similarly positive results.

However, under real-world conditions, the former is a more reliable move since the latter debuffs your Attack by two stages every time you use it. Therefore, Typhlosion with Blast Burn is a creature worth grinding for if you plan on using it in Pokemon GO PvP.

Is Blast Burn Typhlosion good in Pokemon GO raids and gyms?

Incinerate and Blast Burn form Typhlosion's best PvE moveset in Pokemon GO. This moveset has a damage per second output of 18.29 and a total damage output of 399.7 when used in neutral situations. The next best Charged Attack alternative, Overheat, sees the DPS fall to 16.57 and the TDO to 362.1.

Even here, Shadow Typhlosion outperforms its regular variant. With the best moveset, it is the 18th best Fire-type attacker in-game and can be useful in low-tier raids or as a Gym attacker.
