In the real world, Pokemon has a long history. But in the games, the history of Pokemon goes back even further, with ancient stories speaking of old Pokemon and even fossils being discovered. The Pokemon world also seems to be far more advanced than our own and there are people who have discovered how to revive long-extinct Pokemon from simple fossils. One of the first of these fossil Pokemon the world saw was the dual rock/water type Kabuto.

Appearance of Kabuto
Kabuto is a Pokemon that looks very similar to a horseshoe crab, with a strong shell covering its entire body, only not covering its bottom where its eyes and legs can be seen poking out. There is a set of fake eyes on its brown shell which can glow in darker environments.
Behavior of Kabuto
Kabuto is a Pokemon from long ago and is frequently shown to be aggressive in modern times, however, it seems to have behaved slightly differently in its own time. It would hide on the ocean floor and occasionally come up onto beaches, protected by its hard shell.
Strengths and Weaknesses
While dual types usually lead to lots of beneficial type matchups, Kabuto’s rock/water typing doesn’t mix as well as others. Kabuto is strong against normal, flying, poison, and ice-type moves, taking half damage from them. Kabuto gets a large bonus against the fire type though, only taking 25% damage from fire type moves. Despite the good amount of resistance, Kabuto still has a lot of weaknesses. It’s weak to fighting, ground, and electric type moves and takes double damage from them. And its ultimate weakness is the grass type as it takes quadruple damage from any grass type move.
Kabuto Fossil
The Kabuto Pokemon card which evolves from the Mysterious Fossil, sometimes called the Kabuto Fossil card, is an old and valuable Pokemon Card. The Kabuto Fossil card is card number 50 in English numbering and can be worth up to $150. The Kabuto Fossil card was added in the Fossil expansion and is now highly valued like most classic Pokemon cards. Strangely, the Kabuto Fossil card is labeled as a fighting type but is still weak to the water type.
Best Moveset for Kabuto
Kabuto has a high physical attack and defense so taking advantage of physical moves with the STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) will benefit Kabuto greatly.

How to Catch Kabuto in Pokemon Go
Kabuto, despite being extinct for some time in the Pokemon universe, is relatively common nowadays. It can be found with a decent frequency near water and near rocky beaches with caves. It can also hatch from 10km eggs.
Trivia
Kabuto is the Shellfish Pokemon, which is the same as both its evolved form Kabutops as well as Blastoise.
Kabuto’s design was based on the extinct trilobite as well as the horseshoe crab, which is an animal considered to be a ‘living fossil.’
In beta versions of Pokemon Red and Blue, Kabuto was named ‘Att’ which was a shortening of Atlantis.
FAQs
Q. Is Kabuto a rare Pokemon?
Kabuto was incredibly rare in early Pokemon games, only being obtained through fossil resurrection. In recent titles, however, it’s implied that more fossils were resurrected and reintroduced to the wild as Kabuto seems to be everywhere and is no longer considered extinct by most people.
Q. How did Kabuto go Extinct?
Despite having strong fangs to capture prey, Kabuto is an incredibly slow Pokemon due to its heavy shell which caused it to be out-competed and go extinct.
Conclusion
Even though Kabuto is less rare now, it's still a special find. Not many Pokemon have a history in game and in reality the way Kabuto and other fossil Pokemon do. This history alone keeps this Pokemon special.
