Klink (Pokemon GO) - How to catch, Stats, Moves, Strength, Weakness, Trivia, FAQs

Last Modified Nov 5, 2021 08:34 GMT

Introduced in generation five, with the Pokemon Black and White games, Klink is a monotype steel Pokemon. It is the first stage evolution of its three stage evolution line and evolves into Klang once it reaches the level threshold. It reaches its final evolution, Klinklang once it reaches the level threshold. Klink is classified by the Pokedex as the “Gear Pokemon” which may be a nod to its general design. This guide will showcase Klink’s capabilities in battle, its appearances in the anime, as well as other general facts about Klink.

As a generation five Pokemon, Klink first appeared in the Black and White movie White - Victini and Zekrom and Black - Victini and Reshiram. In these movies, Klink appears alongside Klang and Klinklang under the ownership of a trainer named Mannes. Klink is the first stage evolution of its three stage evolution line and it evolves into Klang when it reaches level 38, and then evolves into Klinglang at level 49. The Pokedex mentions that the two gears that make up Klink are predetermined and spin together to generate energy.

Klink is a Pokémon resembling two combined sets of gears with six teeth each and these teeth are constantly spinning. Most of its body is light-gray, with a darker central region. Each gear has its own white "X" on one of its two eyes, while another slot on their face has a black pupil and white sclerae. There is a round blue piece in the middle of both gears resembling a nose. Klink is a small Pokemon at only 1 foot, or 0.3 meters, tall.

Klink is known for the moves Shift Gear and Gear Grind which were signature moves of the Pokemon. In the wild, once Klink’s two bodies have joined, they have to remain with their partner. The Pokedex states that Klink can only mesh well with its predetermined partner. It generates energy by spinning and can commonly be found in caves. Its origins are mysterious although it is believed that Klink are the inspiration behind the first gears invented by ancient people.

As a base evolution Pokemon, Klink is not particularly powerful. Its strongest stat is its physical defense, but it does not have a good health pool to keep it alive. Its attack stats are nothing noteworthy either. However, it can be surprisingly durable in battle, especially during the early phases of the game. As a monotype steel Pokemon, Klink takes 2x damage from fighting, ground, and fire type moves. It is immune to poison type moves and resistant against normal, flying, rock, bug, steel, grass, psychic, ice, dragon, and fairy type moves.

In competitive play, Klink is most commonly used in the LC (Little Cup) bracket of competitive play. In this format, it only has to face other base evolution Pokemon, which gives it a chance to succeed. Klink is typically run as an offensive Pokemon, looking to set up stat boosts through Shift Gear. With an Eviolite held item it can prove to be a resilient Pokemon. Consider running Shift Gear, Gear Grind, Wild Charge, and Return. Shift Gear is what enables Klink to be an offensive Pokemon, Gear Grind benefits from STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus), and Wild Charge/Return are used as type coverage options.

If you would like to obtain a Klink in Pokemon Go, there are a few different ways of doing so. Unlike many other Pokemon, Klink cannot be encountered in the wild. You will need to obtain a Klink from hatching eggs or from a raid encounter. Klink can be hatched from 10 km eggs and you can also find Klink as a tier one raid boss at Pokemon Gyms. Unfortunately, neither Klang or Klinklang are available as raid bosses. You will need 25 candies to evolve Klink into Klang and another 100 to evolve Klang into Klinklang.

  1. In the generation five games, you can see Klink’s face spins at a faster speed than the animation for its teeth spinning.
  2. The inspiration for Klink’s design seems to be based on a pair of interlocking gears.
  3. The name Klink is a corruption of the word clink, an onomatopoeia.

Is Klink a good Pokemon?

Klink can perform well for a base evolution Pokemon. It has good defensive typing, access to powerful set up tools, and only gets stronger with investment. You can also expect Klink’s stat boosts to remain in place thanks to its Clear Body ability. There are a lot of environments where Klink can succeed as long as you pay attention to its bad matchups.

What level does Klink evolve Pokemon Sword?

In every Pokemon game in the franchise, Klink will evolve into Klang once it reaches level 38. It reaches its final evolution once Klang reaches level 49. After meeting the level thresholds for these evolutions you just need to allow the evolution animation to play without pressing the “B” button.

Is Klink a Steel Type?

Klink is a monotype steel Pokemon. While its Pokedex description might imply some electric capabilities, its entire evolution line remains a steel-only type Pokemon. While it does not gain a new type through evolution, it does become stronger in terms of base stats.

Congratulations, you now know just about everything there is to know about this “Gear Pokemon”. Klink’s influence on competitive play is somewhat limited due to being a base evolution Pokemon, however, it is particularly powerful in the right setting. With a strong defensive typing, potential to sweep enemy teams, and good abilities, it can prove to be a surprisingly strong Pokemon. Reserve a slot on your team for Klink if you want an all around steel type Pokemon.
