Due to Dawn having a rather popular Buneary in the Pokemon anime, the normal type Lopunny has made many appearances in different ways alongside Dawn’s Buneary. This allowed it to make quite the impact on fans and has become rather popular, even if its popularity is unfortunately similar to that of Gardevior’s at times.

Appearance of Lopunny
Lopunny is a tall, rabbit-like Pokemon with incredibly long ears which end in big balls of fluffy fur. This fur fluff appears on other parts of the Pokemon’s body too and it's know to cover itself in this fur, even more, when it feels threatened.
Behavior of Lopunny
Lopunny is a very self-conscious Pokemon. It frequently grooms its fluffy fur and is incredibly cautious. Most of the Pokemon is rather fragile, all except for its legs, which can dish out incredibly strong kicks.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Being only a normal type, Lopunny has a very standard spread of strengths and weaknesses, though it's high defensive stats help against its weaknesses.
Shiny Lopunny
Shiny Pokemon are incredibly rare and valued and with a Pokemon like Lopunny, Shiny Lopunny is even more valued. Shiny Lopunny takes its original cutesy design and goes even further, making the fur of the Shiny Lopunny pink instead of a yellowish cream color. Shiny Lopunny is otherwise the same as a regular Lopunny but the one color change is big enough to be striking.
Mega Lopunny
In games with Mega Evolution, a Lopunny holding a Lopunnite can Mega Evolve into Mega Lopunny. Mega Lopunny is a dual normal/fighting type Pokemon that takes the fur of normal Lopunny and adds more. Mega Lopunny has much longer ears with tufts of fur along with them. Mega Lopunny also has a change in its body language, with normal Lopunny being more closed off but Mega Lopunny opening up its stance and generally looking more active. This communicates Mega Lopunny’s huge boost to its speed and attack stats.
Best Moveset for Lopunny
Hyper Offense Lopunny: This set takes advantage of Lopunny’s high speed and physical attack to dish out big damage incredibly quickly to a large variety of Pokemon types. This set is rather risky due to the high amount of moves with a chance to miss but the reward of this playstyle is immense.
Fake Out | Giga Impact |
High Jump Kick | Ice Punch |
Support Lopunny: This is rather standard support set aside from Fake Out, which gives the normal type Lopunny the ability to hit and counter ghost-type Pokemon.
Fake Out | Return |
High Jump Kick | Encore/After You/Fake Tears |
How to Catch Lopunny in Pokemon Go
While you can evolve a Buneary into a Lopunny, an even better way to find a Lopunny is through raid battles. Lopunny will appear as a powerful raid boss occasionally and is the best way to capture a Lopunny directly.
Trivia

FAQs
Q. Is Mega Lopunny a fighting type?
When Lopunny Mega Evolves, it turns from a normal type to a dual normal/fighting type.
Q. What is Lopunny based on?
Lopunny is based on a hare, which is known to have powerful legs and kicks and are incredibly fast animals, just like Lopunny.
Q. How do you counter Mega Lopunny?
Mega Lopunny’s new fighting type is its ultimate weakness. Having a Pokemon with high physical defense as well as a strong psychic type move will work wonders against Mega Lopunny.
