Pokemon GO's June 2024 calendar has nearly concluded, and plenty of players are looking forward to a content-filled July. However, before diving into another month of Pokemon fun, it doesn't hurt to take a look at the high points of the previous month and the good times it brought countless trainers, especially since quite a bit of content and change took place over the month.
From the first two legs of Pokemon GO Fest 2024 to the arrival of a new season and the return of a beloved Mega Evolved Pokemon, quite a bit happened in June 2024. With that in mind, let's take a look at some of the best highlights in GO with the month coming to a close.
5 of the best highlights of Pokemon GO in June 2024
1) The Beginning of Shared Skies

Each new season of Pokemon GO brings plenty of hope to the player base, as Niantic announces its upcoming events, new Pokemon additions, and gameplay changes. Such was the case on June 1, 2024, when the Shared Skies season went live, promising the arrival of the creature Necrozma as well as the return of Mega Rayquaza for the first time since GO Fest 2023.
Much more lies in wait during Shared Skies before it ends in early September 2024, and there's little doubt that dedicated trainers will be excited for what's to come.
2) Pokemon GO Fest 2024: Sendai's conclusion and Madrid's beginning
GO Fest 2024 in Sendai may have begun in late May, but it concluded on June 2, and it wasn't long before another round of GO Fest action kicked off on June 14, 2024, in Madrid. Trainers came together to enjoy the game, raid, catch Pokemon, enjoy bonuses, and even have an encounter with Necrozma and fuse it into Dawn Wings and Dusk Mane Necrozma, just like they did in Sendai.
GO Fest season is exciting every year, but having two GO Fests so close together was a nice treat for the community.
3) Mega Rayquaza makes its return
Mega Rayquaza is undoubtedly one of the most coveted Mega Evolutions in Niantic's mobile title, and trainers who couldn't obtain it during GO Fest 2023 finally got their opportunity to do so during its Elite Raid on June 29, 2024. Even though the event only lasted for six hours and 45 minutes, some trainers were glad they had any opportunity at all to collect more Mega Energy for Rayquaza.
The limited time window did upset some players who simply couldn't schedule around the event, which is understandable. Still, Mega Rayquaza making a return at all beats it remaining unavailable for the foreseeable future.
4) Scorching Steps
Every player can appreciate a quality Fire-type creature, and plenty were available from June 21 to June 25, 2024, when the Scorching Steps event took place. Trainers got another chance to hatch the incredibly elusive Larvesta as well as its shiny variant for the first time. Many more beloved Fire-types could also be hatched, including Litleo, Houndour, Magby, and Turtonator.
Sure, not every trainer necessarily needed these Fire-types, but for a brief event, this egg-hatching extravaganza was an enjoyable one.
5) Pokemon GO's Eighth Anniversary begins
It can be hard to believe sometimes, but Pokemon GO will have turned eight years old on July 6, 2024. Trainers were reminded of just how far the game has come when the 8th Anniversary Celebration kicked off on June 28, 2024, offering tons of bonuses, the ability to obtain shiny Meltan, as well as catch a ton of starter Pokemon and those wearing party hats to join the celebration.
With this event, it's a time to celebrate the game's accomplishments while remaining hopeful for a better future.
