This guide will showcase Mesprit’s capabilities in battle, its appearances in the anime, as well as other general facts about Mesprit.

Appearance
Mesprit is a small pink fairy with a gray body and like the other members of the lake trio, it has two slender tails that extend out into a leaf shape. While it has two stubby feet, it tends to fly everywhere it goes. Mesprit’s eyes are yellow with black pupils and there is a single red gem on its forehead. Its arms extend out into two digits with what resembles a thumb and the rest of its hand. Mesprit is a small Pokemon at only 1 foot, or 0.3 meters, tall.
Behavior
As a legendary Pokemon, Mesprit was the target of the criminal organization Team Galactic. Its incredible psychic power was desirable for the criminals to control in order to conquer the Sinnoh region. As the “bringer of emotion” Mesprit has a high amount of empathy, but any human that touches it will have their emotions drained from their body. The Pokedex mentions Mesprit’s history as the birth of emotion and it is said that Mesprit taught humans sorrow, pain, and joy.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Mesprit has one of the most balanced base stat totals of any Pokemon in the franchise. Its health and speed are a bit lower than the rest of its stats, but it can take any hit as well as threaten with both special and physical moves. However, its balanced stats make it a little unwieldy and it has trouble specializing for any particular role. As a monotype psychic Pokemon, Mesprit takes 2x damage from bug, ghost, and dark type moves. It is resistant to fighting and psychic type moves, and thanks to its ability Levitate, Mesprit is immune to ground type moves.
Best Moveset
Despite Mesprit’s status as a legendary Pokemon, it is typically seen at the bottom of competitive formats. That is because its wide range of stats makes it difficult for Mesprit to fulfill any dedicated role. However, it does have a large movepool and it can technically perform any role that your team may be lacking. Use a Choice Specs, as a held item, to ensure that Mesprit’s hits deal significant damage. Consider running Psychic, Ice Beam, Signal Beam, and Healing Wish. Psychic benefits from STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus), Ice Beam and Signal Beam are for type coverage, and Healing Wish can be a surprising way to get a Pokemon on your team back into the game.

How to Catch Mesprit in Pokemon Go
If you would like to obtain a Mesprit in Pokemon Go, you will likely have to travel in order to do so as Mesprit will only spawn in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India. You cannot obtain a Mesprit unless you are within these areas of the world. Even the events that featured the Lake Spirit trio kept them locked in their respective regions. To obtain a Mesprit, you can find them in the wild, with a very rare spawn rate, or in tier five raid battles at Pokemon Gyms as long as you are within the correct region. Luckily, Mesprit has no evolutions to worry about, so you can save any candies to power up your Mesprit instead of using them for evolution.
