Introduced in generation four, with the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl games, Mismagius is a monotype ghost Pokemon. It is the final evolution of Misdreavus and will evolve after a Dusk Stone is used. Mismagius is classified as the “Magical Pokemon” by the Pokedex, which is perhaps a nod to its rather wizard-like appearance. This guide will showcase Mismagius’s capabilities in battle, its appearances in the anime, as well as other general facts about Mismagius.
About Mismagius
As a generation four Pokemon, Mismagius first appeared in the Diamond and Pearl season of the Pokemon anime in the episode Malice in Wonderland!. It will evolve from Misdreavus after a Dusk Stone is used. Appearance
Mismagius is a floating, ghostly Pokemon that appears to be wearing a wizard’s hat and robe. Most of Mismagius’s body is purple but there are pink and red ornaments found all over its body. The top of its hat and the sides have pink frills while there are red gems on Mismagius’s robe and it is rather short at only 2 feet and 11 inches, or 0.9 meters, tall.
Behavior
As a ghost type Pokemon, it behaves rather mischievously. Throughout the anime, it often causes illusions for the protagonists to dispel or it will attack or possess groups of people. The Pokedex states that its cry sounds like incantations which can cause headaches or hallucinations although the same cry can also imbue people with happiness, with its behavior rather varied.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Mismagius has a very low base health, physical attack and defense but its special attack and defense along with its speed stat are very respectable. Furthermore, its ability Levitate makes it immune to ground type moves and as a monotype ghost Pokemon, it is also immune to normal and fighting type moves. Mismagius is resistant to poison and bug types moves but weak to ghost and dark type moves, taking double the normal damage.
Best Moveset
Mismagius has never seen too much play in competitive Pokemon battles, even with its decent statline. That is because it is simply outclassed by many other special attackers, and its special defense is difficult to utilize with its mediocre health. As such, Mismagius has frequently been near the bottom of competitive brackets. However, if you would like to reserve a slot for Mismagius on your team, consider running Will-O-Wisp, Taunt, Hex, and Pain Split/Thunder Wave. Will-O-Wisp is a powerful status inflicting move, Taunt can throw a wrench into the works of your opponents, Hex benefits from STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) while also functioning as Mismagius’s main source of damage. Finally Pain Split and Thunder Wave are interchangeable to help you get through walls or inflict more status effects on your opponents.

How to Catch Mismagius in Pokemon Go
If you would like to obtain a Mismagius in Pokemon Go, the easiest way would be to obtain a Misdreavus. Like most final evolution Pokemon, it is rarer to encounter in the wild as compared to its base evolution counterpart. As a ghost type Pokemon, you will have better odds of encountering a Misdreavus at nighttime. You will need 100 Misdreavus candies and a Sinnoh Stone in order to evolve Misdreavus into Mismagius. Unfortunately it does not seem as if Mismagius has appeared as a raid boss in the past and thus, you will have to do it the hard way to gain access to Mismagius.

However, thanks to its strong special attack and speed, it can function as a decent special attacker.
