From accommodations in New York itself to preventing exploitation from certain players, Niantic will want to keep an eye on multiple things as Pokemon GO Fest 2024: New York City draws near, and it doesn't hurt to examine them.

5 mistakes Niantic should avoid for Pokemon GO Fest 2024: New York
1) Lacking Sun Protection
One of the criticisms leveled toward Pokemon GO Fest 2024: Madrid was one of shade, as many players had difficulty playing in the full view of the sun, to say nothing of the heat itself. Summer has arrived even in New York City, and Niantic should ensure there is plenty of shade to relax under in Randall's Island Park so that players can beat the heat and view their devices without obstruction.
All things considered, Niantic should be able to meet this demand easily, and the fans arriving in New York hopefully won't have to worry about a lack of shade.
2) Keeping Pokestops Too Close Together
There are no two ways about it; Pokemon GO Fest 2024 is going to be a crowded event with a ton of wild Pokemon spawns and Pokestops to interact with. However, suppose Pokestops are placed too closely together. In that case, some trainers may have difficulty opening wild Pokemon encounters or interacting with specific Pokestops if too many stops are packed into the same small area onscreen.
By ensuring that Pokestops are well distributed throughout the event area, trainers won't have to worry about tapping the wrong Pokestops or wild encounters.
3) Not Having Defined Trading Areas
While this isn't always an issue in Pokemon GO Fest's real-world events, some trainers remarked that there haven't always been defined areas for trainers to mingle and trade Pocket Monsters. The alternative sees players roaming around the event area hoping to find trading partners, which isn't exactly ideal when some fans are looking for certain Pokemon to obtain via trade.
By having a few locations for defined trading, Niantic can avoid trainers leaving GO Fest disappointed that they couldn't trade what they were hoping for.
4) Provide Insufficient WiFi Coverage
More than a few Pokemon GO Fests in the past have been plagued by spotty wifi coverage, resulting in players having connection issues and not being able to enjoy the event to the fullest. This could mean missing out on wild Pokemon spawns, disconnecting from raids on accident, or encountering other utility issues when playing the game, none of which are ideal.
New York City's infrastructure is more than capable of facilitating robust online connections for the players attending the event, but Niantic may want to double-check and ensure it can provide a healthy connection to the countless players making their way to the city.
5) Allowing Spoofers to Run Rampant
Put plainly, GO Fest's real-world events are intended to reward trainers who can attend them in person, and Niantic has made its statement clear on players enjoying the game together in the real world. So, countermeasures should be in effect to account for trainers who spoof (use applications to fake a trainer's location) to be punished.
GO Fest 2024's real-world events offer Pokemon and rewards for attending trainers that aren't intended to be obtained elsewhere, and spoofers who purchase a ticket but don't actually attend these events shouldn't prosper. Besides, spoofing is against the game's terms of service in the first place.
