Pokemon TCG Pocket will soon get the option to trade cards, although the matter won't be as straightforward as that. Ever since its launch on October 30, 2024, the card-collecting and deck-building title has been a massive hit in the community. According to Appmagic, the game has already raked in more than $50 million players with over 20 million downloads.
While the trading button is already available in-game, trainers would have noticed that it is grayed out and stamped with "Coming Soon." Bringing in the mechanic directly can also cause issues where the fair-play factor of Pokemon TCG Pocket gets compromised.
Pokemon TCG Pocket trading arriving early 2025
The trading mechanic will debut in Pokemon TCG Pocket in January 2025. In an X post, the developers mentioned that only certain cards will initially be allowed for trading. This set of eligible cards will then be expanded gradually. The post also confirmed that new booster packs will arrive "by the end of the year."

The last bit of information is in line with the recent Pokemon TCG Pocket datamine, where we found out that a special booster pack (A1a) is reportedly slated for December 16 and a new expansion pack (A2) is coming on January 29.
The post further stated:
"We have other new features in development outside of the trade feature introduced here. We plan to announce more details about the update as the dates for the addition of these features are finalized, so please look forward to it."
Currently, Pokemon TCG Pocket has only one expansion, Genetic Apex, which has 286 cards. Revolving around the Gen 1 151 Pokemon, the set has three booster packs featuring Charizard, Mewtwo, and Pikachu. There are plenty of Dex, Decked, and Themed Collection Missions for trainers to complete and reap rewards from.
The Wonder Pick Part 1 & 2, Lapras ex Drop, and Genetic Apex Emblem Part 1 events are online in-game right now. Further events haven't been revealed as of now, although the developers have already mentioned that they "plan to hold a variety of in-game events" going forward.
