The Pokemon Company has just announced a big collaboration on the official X page (@Pokemon) for the iconic franchise. They have been experimenting with different types of animations for the online-exclusive series like Pokemon Concierge and Pokemon: Path to the Peak, and now, the franchise is working with a renowned claymation studio, Aardman.

Known for beloved series like Wallace and Gromit, Shaun the Sheep, as well as the 2000 hit, Chicken Run, Aardman has a very impressive track record. As such, fans of both the Pokemon franchise as well as Aardman's classic films will have a lot to look forward to in the future, with the collaborative project set for a 2027 release.

Following online rumors of the studio running out of the valuable material to make films, many movie fans were worried that the charm of Aardman Animations' works would be lost forever. Fortunately, the studio debunked these claims in 2023, and they have been hard at work on upcoming projects, with this Pokemon collaboration being one many fans did not see coming.

With so many other side-series in the Pokemon franchise's catalog at the moment, it is unclear what exactly these studios are working on. The Pokemon Company briefly experimented with stop-motion animation for Pokemon Concierge, a Netflix-original series of four 15-minute-long episodes.

Netflix has confirmed that more episodes of this series are on the way. However, we speculate that the limitations of stop motion could have been overwhelming for the original team, leading to the studio deciding to call in Aardman to finish up the series. As speculations go, this last bit has not yet been confirmed by The Pokemon Company or Aardman.
