Every day is hump day with Numel! Numel is the Numb Pokemon, generally known for its dull, unaware nature. Despite this though, it is both an entirely helpful pokemon notorious for being able to carry heavy loads, yet is also incredibly dangerous, with its insides being a veritable cauldron of magma. It is a dual Fire/Ground type Pokemon that evolves into Camerupt upon reaching level 35. Numel was first discovered in the 3rd Generation of Pokemon games in Ruby/Sapphire, and debuted in the anime episode “Game Winning Assist” of which it was the main focus. It is commonly found in heated and/or elevated areas.

Pokedex Entry | Omega Ruby: Numel is extremely dull witted—it doesn't notice being hit. However, it can't stand hunger for even a second. This Pokémon's body is a seething cauldron of boiling magma. | Alpha Sapphire:Numel stores magma of almost 2,200 degrees Fahrenheit within its body. If it gets wet, the magma cools and hardens. In that event, the Pokémon's body grows heavy and its movements become sluggish. |

Appearance
Numel’s most notable physical trait is its large humped back, which is greenish at its peak and has a hole which houses its extremely hot inner source of heat that enables its fiery attacks. It has 4 stubby legs with tan skin, a white, lightly toned underbelly and two oval ears with a black ring outline along its eyes. It tends to have a dull, checked out look on its face. Numel is, on average, grows to 2 ft 4 inches and 58 pounds according to its Pokedex entries but as seen in previous pictures they can definitely grow to be much larger than that.
Behavior
Numel are a generally oblivious species, unaware of their surroundings and occasionally not even noticing when they’ve been hurt. They’ve been domesticated by humans for a long time for their ability to haul large loads for long distances as long as they’re properly fed. They absolutely despise the rain as it slows down their internal functions.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Numel has a decent amount of bulk allowing it to take some hits as well as being resistant to Fire, Steel, Bug, Poison, and Fairy type moves. This is a good benefit it needs considering it is relatively slow even for a pre-evo Pokemon. It’s Fire/Ground typing gives it STAB to some of the best offensive moves in the game like Earthquake and Flamethrower and its offensive stats are good enough to go either physical or special. It is, however, weak to Ground type moves and also Water type moves but takes four times the normal damage from the latter. But it’s immune to any Electric moves thus takes no damage from them.
Best moveset
With one of it’s abilities in Simple, Numel can get a doubled benefit from stat boosts and decreases. In tandem with the move Flame Charge, Numel can suddenly overcome one of its greatest weaknesses in its lack of speed, while being able to round out the rest of its moveset with its potent damage potential with its good STAB typing in Fire/Ground

Flamethrower | Stealth Rock |
How to catch Numel in Pokemon Go?

Trivia

FAQs
What is Numel weak to?
Water type moves are absolutely devastating to Numel, being 4X effective to its Fire/Ground typing. Ground type moves as well are super effective against it
Is Numel a Physical or Special Attacker?
Numel is capable of doing both with its relatively even Attack/Special Attack spread! But generally sees more use as a special attacker.
Can Numel evolve with a Fire Stone?
Unfortunately, the only way to evolve Numel into Camerupt is through levels only.
Conclusion
For a pre-Evolution pokemon Numel has clear strengths in its offensive capabilities, as well as the ability to mitigate some of its weaknesses in speed thanks to its movepool. Its evolution in Camerupt only further solidifies that profile, so if it sounds like something that would be up your alley, consider giving this dull little camel a try in your team.
