Pachirisu

About Pachirisu

As a generation four Pokemon, Pachirisu first appeared in the Diamond and Pearl season of the anime in the episode Twice Smitten, Once Shy!. It received a decent share of screen-time as this was the episode where Dawn had caught a Pachirisu for her team. As a standalone Pokemon, it has no evolution requirements to fulfill and despite its small stature, Pachirisu’s line never gets stronger or weaker. The Pokedex states its squirrel-like behavior in storing berries in tree-holes while also mentioning its electric capabilities.

Appearance

Pachirisu is a white and blue, bipedal, squirrel-like Pokemon with two yellow spots on its cheeks that can conduct electricity. It has two black eyes with white pupils and a long tail with three spikes near the end. Its tail is bigger than its entire body and that’s not saying much since Pachirisu is a small Pokemon at only 1 foot and 4 inches, or 0.4 meters, tall.

Pachirisu Appearance

Behavior

Throughout Pachirisu’s appearances in the anime as Dawn’s Pokemon, it was shown to be friendly and hyperactive. While it ignored Dawn’s commands in the beginning, that was more to its lack of focus rather than Pachirisu being intentionally disobedient. Later on it was shown to be much more focused while still maintaining its mischievous attitude. The Pokedex mentions how Pachirisu can charge electricity with its fur and shoot charges out of its tail.

Strengths and Weaknesses

While Pachirisu may not appear to be the strongest Pokemon, would you believe it was a key component of a world championship team? Its speed, disabling capabilities, and ability to survive a Draco Meteor all came together to give Park Se Jun a victory in 2014 VGC World Championships. While this tale may seem extraordinary, it’s an outlier case as Pachirisu has its own share of weaknesses. As an electric Pokemon, it is weak to ground type moves, immune to nothing and resistant to flying, steel, and electric type moves.

Best Moveset

To see success with Pachirisu in competitive play, you will want to run it as a supporting role. In its 2014 World Championships victory, it was used to great effect to counter many of the popular teams in the meta at the time. Using it as a disabler, while also buying time for your setup Pokemon to perform a sweep, will give you the best chance of success and thus Consider running Nuzzle, Super Fang, Follow Me/U-Turn, and Toxic/Protect. Nuzzle will paralyze any Pokemon that is susceptible to it, Super Fang makes Pachirisu a considerable threat beyond its disabling capabilities, Follow Me and U-Turn are interchangeable as options for buying time or getting an efficient switch. Finally, Toxic or Protect can be used to grant you inevitability in a longer battle or for buying more time.

How to Catch Pachirisu in Pokemon Go

If you would like to obtain a Pachirisu in Pokemon Go, your only option is to find one in the wild. It is a relatively rare spawn and you will want to search in areas where electric type Pokemon spawns are boosted. Consider searching near universities, industrial parks, residential areas, as well as when it is raining. It cannot be hatched from eggs and has not appeared as a raid boss in the past, which means you’ll have to do it the hard way if you want a Pachirisu.
