Pokemon GO's 2024 World Championship Celebration event will begin on August 16, 2024, at 10:00 am local time and will remain active until August 20, 2024, at 8:00 pm local time. There will be plenty of bonuses, rewards, and challenges to tackle during its run, and trainers can even find a new costumed Pokemon to collect.
With that in mind, it's worth examining the ins and outs of the Pokemon GO 2024 World Championship Celebration, including its featured Pocket Monsters, raid bosses, available shinies, event bonuses, and how to prepare for the event as a whole.

During the 2024 World Championship Celebration event, Pokemon GO trainers can enjoy the following bonuses:
- Up to five Special Trades can be made with fellow trainers each day.
- A Charged TM or Elite Charged TM can be used to remove the Charged Move Frustration from Shadow Pokemon without needing to purify them first.
Additionally, the following bonuses will be active from August 16, 2024, at 12:00 am local time until August 20, 2024, at 11:59 pm local time as part of the GO Battle Week: Shared Skies sub-event:
- Stardust gains from winning GO Battle League PvP matches are quadrupled (excluding end-of-set rewards).
- The maximum number of sets that can be played per day is increased from five to 20 (for a total of 100 battles) from 12:00 am until 11:59 pm local time each day.
- Free battle-themed Timed Research will be available to undertake that can offer rewards including a wig avatar item inspired by Lana, the Alolan Trial Captain of Brooklet Hill.
- Pokemon encountered as rewards from the GO Battle League will have a wider range of variance when it comes to their Attack/Defense/Stamina IV stats.
How to prepare for Pokemon GO's 2024 World Championship Celebration
By and large, the 2024 World Championship Celebration is quite similar to many before it, and one of the best pieces of advice is to stockpile supplies ahead of the event. This includes acquiring tons of Poke Balls, raid passes, and Max Revives to tackle standard raids, as well as gathering Shadow Shards to craft into Purified Gems in order to take on the event's various Shadow Raid bosses.
Moreover, due to the GO Battle Week: Shared Skies sub-event, it's not a bad idea to assemble teams for formats like the Great, Ultra, and Master Leagues as well as the Catch Cup: Great League Edition. This will allow players to take advantage of the full slate of PvP bonuses in addition to those provided by the World Championship Celebration itself.

Research rewards for Pokemon GO 2024 World Championship Celebration
If players want even more opportunities to encounter certain featured Pokemon and their shiny variants during the event, they can complete Field Research Tasks obtained by spinning Pokestop photo discs. The following Pocket Monsters can appear as rewards for completing these tasks, and all of them can appear in their shiny variants:
- 2024 World Championship Pikachu
- Swablu
- Mienfoo
- Mareanie
Meanwhile, by purchasing a Paid Timed Research ticket for the event, trainers can undertake specialized event research that will reward them with a Premium Battle Pass, 25,000 Stardust, and the ability to encounter Azumarill, Vigoroth, Cresselia, and more. Keep in mind, though, that these rewards must be claimed before the event ends on August 20, 2024, at 8:00 pm local time.
Featured attacks for Pokemon GO 2024 World Championship Celebration
During the Pokemon GO 2024 World Championship celebration, trainers can catch or evolve certain critters that will know some quality Fast and Charged Moves without needing to teach them with a Fast or Charged TM.
Specifically, players who catch Lickitung during the event will notice that it already knows the Charged Move Body Slam. Meanwhile, catching a Mienfoo in the same manner will provide trainers with a Mienfoo that knows the Charged Move High Jump Kick.
In addition to these featured moves, evolving certain species during the Pokemon GO 2024 World Championship celebration will grant Pocket Monsters with featured moves, which can be found below:
- Wooper > Quagsire: Quagsire with the Charged Attack Aqua Tail.
- Swablu > Altaria: Altaria with the Charged Move Moonblast.
- Grubbin > Charjabug: Charjabug with the Charged Move Volt Switch
- Fletchinder > Talonflame: Talonflame with the Fast Attack Incinerate
Keep in mind that the Pokemon above must be evolved during the 2024 World Championship celebration; it isn't enough to simply catch their prior forms during the event and evolve them later on after it has concluded.
