Pokemon GO player points out potential loophole with the Necrozma Fusion Raid Day event

Pokemon GO Necrozma Fusion Raid Day is scheduled for December 14, 2024, from 2 to 5 p.m. local time, during which players will witness the return of Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings Necrozma. One can defeat any of these Raid Bosses to get their hands on a regular or shiny Necrozma. Do note that the event bonus will increase the chances of encountering a shiny one.

Necrozma can become Dusk Mane Necrozma when it fuses with Solgaleo using 1,000 Solar Fusion Energy, 30 Necrozma Candy, and 30 Cosmog Candy. Similarly, it can turn into Dusk Wings Necrozma after fusing with Lunala using 1,000 Lunar Energy, 30 Necrozma Candy, and 30 Cosmog Candy.

Developer Niantic has revealed the specifics of the Necrozma Fusion Raid Day event on its official website. However, they haven't mentioned anything about how one can get Cosmog and its Candies. Without these vital components, Pokemon GO players cannot fuse their Necrozma.

Reacting to this, Redditor Cheeks2120 took to the TheSliphroad Subreddit, calling attention to the potential loophole with the Necrozma Fusion Raid Day.

Pokemon GO players can expect to see a Timed Research/Special Research task offering an encounter with Cosmog very soon. The stories will mostly likely be available around the time of Necrozma Fusion Raid Day. However, if this prediction doesn’t match up, trainers will have to obtain a Cosmog by trading with a friend, which will consume a lot of Stardust.

Trainers who have already acquired a Cosmog in the game can evolve it into either a Lunala or Solgaleo by spending Cosmog Candies. But, trading is the only option for those, who are yet to get their hands on this Legendary Pokemon.

Redditors like Nolkel made it clear that back when Pokemon GO hosted Mega Rayquaza Elite Raids, trainers were able to get a Meteorite via Timed Research rewards. So, this pattern might repeat and Niantic might offer a Cosmog encounter as a reward for a Timed Research during Necrozma Fusion Raid Day.

Other users, including Siderealdream and SlowResearch2, also claimed that trainers will likely get a free Cosmog from Timed Research, but if they want more, they will have to access Paid Research using real money.

Hence, even though players are currently unsure of whether or not Cosmog will be available in Pokemon GO, they have high hopes that Niantic will return it to the game via Research quests before or after the Necrozma Fusion Raid Day event.
