Gigantamax Battles are arriving soon in Pokemon GO, with the prize catches being Gigantamax Charizard, Blastoise, and Venusaur. Normally, you will need to wait through multiple days to complete all three raids and catch them, unless you want to spend PokeCoins and do them faster. However, user u/Practical_TAS has done some extreme maths to share a trick that will allow you to complete all three Gigantamax Battles in Pokemon GO in one day, for absolutely free.

This trick does not involve exploiting any glitches, rather it is a manipulation of the special research and collecting Max Particles smartly. The backbone of this trick to do all three Gigantamax Battles in one day seems to be the To The Max! Special Research, so hopefully you have not completed this and collected all its rewards. The OP mentioned in their post on TheSilphRoad subreddit:

"The key is the "To the Max!" special research. As long as you have not claimed the reward for step 3, task 1 (Win a Max Battle - rewards Max Particle x100), you can spend 2400 max particles for 3 Gigantamax raids in one day."

If you have already claimed the rewards from Step 3 Task 1 for the To The Max! special research (100 Max Particles), this Gigantamax Battle trick in Pokemon GO will unfortunately not work for you. In case you have not done this research for whatever reason, hold your horses and read through carefully, since it will be paramount in getting the right quantity of Max Particles for the trick to work.

It is an elaborate, brilliant process, especially since no exploits are involved. The player broke down the entire process into two sections — a setup phase and the actual raid day actions.

Setup Phase

First, get anywhere between 920 and 990 Max Particles in your inventory. You can use any method to achieve this, the most common being the Power Spots in Pokemon GO. You need to use these strategically as well for the trick to work.

You must use these Power Spots in such a manner that they expire just the day before the raid. This will ensure that new Power Spots appear so that you can claim the necessary amount on the day of Gigantamax Raids. Following this, you would need to walk 2 kilometers and collect the 300 Max Particles you get as a reward. This should bring your total Max Particle count in the range of 1220-1290.

After this, you should walk another 2 kilometers but not claim the Max Particles that you will get as a reward. These will be needed on the Gigantamax Raid day to meet the required count of Particles. At this point, you can collect the 100 Max Particles Reward from To The Max! Special Research. Your final Max Particle count at this point should be in the range of 1320-1390. With this, you have completed the preparation phase.

On the Gigantamax Raid Day in Pokemon GO, complete any of the GMax raids first. After this, you will be left with 520-590 Particles. You will again need to start some manipulative Max Particle expenditure and earnings to meet the overall quota.

At this point, go back and collect the 300 Max Particles reward you had previously not claimed for walking 2 kilometers. This will bring your total Particle count to between 820 and 890. Join the second raid lobby and collect Particles. Based on whether you have used this spot before or not, you will get 100-120 more Particles. Your overall Max Particles count should now be between 940-1010.

After completing the second raid, you will get 140-210 more Particles. Spin exactly three spots to earn 360 Max Particles. You should be quite close to your daily limit, probably 20-40 Particles away. For the final step, walk 2 kilometers more and collect another batch of 300 Max Particles. At this point, you will have between 800-870 Particles.

And with this, you will be easily able to complete the third Gigantamax Raid Battle in Pokemon GO. The math definitely does add up and with some simple management, all three Gigantamax Raids are completed in one outing without spending a single penny or PokeCoin.

Although the trick does seem to be pretty neat, one major disadvantage is that it needs the rewards from an older special research to function properly. Many players would already have completed this, which would render this Gigantamax trick useless for them. And then, you will still have to walk multiple slots of 2 kilometers and meet up with others to complete the Raids.

A similar point was also noted by u/Icy-Idea-5079, who mentioned how this trick will work only for "casual" players:

"I appreciate the thought put behind it but realistically I don't know who would benefit from this because not claiming the rewards by now implies super casual players, and not sure super casuals will do Gigantamax due to being impossible to solo."

Pokemon GO players are not satisfied with the Gigantamax mechanic

While the Gigantamax trick is truly smart, u/mightbeab0t pointed out how this system shows the entire system is "badly designed." Ideally, this should not be possible for free players to complete weeks' worth of events in one go, but the OP has proved it can be possible with some particle management.

Earlier, another Reddit post showcased how players discussed how Niantic is doing Dynamax in Pokemon GO all wrong. Although the general consensus there seemed to be the rate at which Niantic introduced Dmax and Gmax mechanics, the overarching narrative in both scenarios points towards player dissatisfaction and sloppy work.

Gigantamax Raids will debut in Pokemon GO on October 26, 2024. If you want to capture these massive critters, participate with other trainers. It is worth noting that Campfire meets will also grant 800 Max Particles on redeeming a code, so these might also be very useful for many trainers.
