After an action-packed Part I of the Halloween event, Pokemon GO is back with Part II. This event kicks off at 10 am local time on October 26 and goes on till 8 pm local time on October 31, 2023. Apart from the many event bonuses, Part II will feature two new Tricks & Tricks costume Pokemon — Pikachu and Gengar — for players to keep an eye out for.

Costumed critters are all the rage among Pokemon GO players, and their shiny forms are even more coveted. This guide will walk you through all the different ways you can acquire shiny Tricks & Treats Pikachu and Gengar.

How to get shiny Tricks & Treats Pikachu in Pokemon GO

According to an official announcement, the only way to acquire Shiny Pikachu in the Tricks & Treats costume is through wild encounters. This Pocket Monster will be spawning alongside a list of mainly Ghost and Dark-type critters as well as a few other costumed Pokemon.

There is a 1-in-512 chance that a Pikachu encountered in the wild will turn out to be shiny. Those odds are fairly low, so you might need to walk around a lot to get your hands on this rare critter. Shiny, costumed Pikachu are extremely uncommon and coveted assets in the game, so finding one will give you bragging rights for days.

How to get shiny Tricks & Treats Gengar in Pokemon GO

Shiny Tricks & Treats costumed Gengar can be acquired in two ways. The first is via a wild encounter. Some lucky trainers may run into this costumed Pocket Monster in the wild, and with more luck, such encounters might turn out to be shiny.

Tricks & Treats Gengar is also a 3-star raid boss in Pokemon GO's Halloween Part II event. Defeating it in battle will give you a chance to encounter its rarer form afterward.

In both cases, Gengar has a 1-in-64 chance of being shiny. While walking around a lot definitely boosts your chances of catching the rare Tricks & Treats variant of this OG Ghost-type, raids remain a more reliable source.

All things considered, unless you are extremely lucky, you might have to spend substantial amounts of time and resources to get your hands on shiny variants of both Pikachu and Gengar in their Tricks & Treats costumes.
