October 15, 2023, marks Pokemon GO's Community Day for the month. The event will feature the Unova region Fighting-type Pocket Monster, Timburr. It will also offer excellent bonuses, such as 3x Catch Stardust, 2x Candy, and Candy XL. Additionally, the Gurdurr you evolve into Cokeldurr during the event will know the legacy Dark-type move Brutal Swing.

Is Brutal Swing Conkeldurr worth it in Pokemon GO PvP?

Conkeldurr gets the exclusive Dark-type Charged Attack Brutal Swing when evolved during Pokemon GO's October Community Day or up to five hours after.

With Counter as the Fast Attack, the Pocket Monster reaches Brutal Swing in six turns. The attack has a base damage of 65, and the creature doesn't get the benefit of STAB when using it. The move costs 40 energy and, therefore, has a damage-to-energy ratio of 1.62.

For Pokemon GO Battle League's Great League and Ultra League formats, the addition of Brutal Swing helps Conkeldurr's case a lot. According to PvPoke's battle simulations, the critter wins 21 matchups against the Great League's meta with Brutal Swing, compared to 11 with Stone Edge as the second move. In the Ultra League, these numbers are 27 and 21, respectively.

As far as the Master League of Pokemon GO Battle League is concerned, results remain unchanged when it comes to overall numbers. However, with Brutal Swing, Conkeldurr can defeat Metagross, Reshiram, and Zekrom. Meanwhile, having Stone Edge gives it wins over Gyarados, Ho-Oh, and Incarnate Forme Landorus.

Is the Timburr Community Day in Pokemon GO worth playing from a PvP perspective?

Conkeldurr, Timburr's final evolution, is a mid-tier PvP pick across all the main formats, and you'll need niche strategies to get tremendous value out of it. While the new Legacy Move improves its viability, it is still outclassed by other Fighting-type creatures.

That said, Timburr is one of the rarest Pocket Monsters in Pokemon GO, and its shiny form being available abundantly on October 15 definitely warrants participation. Even if you are uninterested in all Timburr-specific aspects, the fact that this Community Day will give 3x Catch Stardust makes it worth playing.
