Pokemon GO Tynamo Community Day will take place on July 21, 2024, from 2 pm to 5 pm local time. During this time, Tynamo, the EleFish Pokemon, will spawn in large numbers all around you. This Electric-type critter from Gen V will also see its shiny form being released on this day. Hardcore players may be interested in the event's value in the PvP and PvE arena.

Eelektrross, Tynamo's final evolution, will receive the Fast Attack Volt Switch during Pokemon GO Tynamo Community Day. This article discusses the potential PvP and PvE viability of Eelektross with Volt Switch. It also provides a list of best IVs for Eelektross if you plan on using it in the GO Battle League.

Is Volt Switch Eelektross worth it in Pokemon GO?

Volt Switch Eelektross in Pokemon GO PvP

In Pokemon GO's PvP battles, Volt Switch is an Electric-type Fast attack. It takes four turns to be executed and deals 12 (14.4 including STAB) damage every time it is used while generating 16 energy.

In all possible shield situations against the Great League as well as Ultra League meta, Volt Switch Eelektross is an improvement over the version without the Pokemon GO Tynamo Community Day move. This is most prevalent in the 1-1 shield scenario in both formats. That said, even with this attack, it fails to make its mark.

While Volt Switch improves Eelektross' viability as a strong attacker, it is still too glassy to have reliable impact. If you are willing to employ shields behind it, it can work decently as a lead as long as you have bulky Pokemon to back it up. Its mono Electric-typing could have given it decent play as a safe-switch, but the lack of bulk once again holds it back — unless you are willing to invest shields into it.

Volt Switch Eelektross in Pokemon GO PvE

In PvE, the Pokemon GO Tynamo Community Day move, Volt Switch, has 14 base power and generates 21 energy. It has a DPS stat of 8.75 and an animation duration of 1.6 seconds.

Eelektross' other Electric-type Fast Attack, Spark, has a very similar damage output and energy generation, despite having nearly half the animation time. The slight improvement of efficiency that Volt Switch brings to the table is irrelevant as it still doesn't make it nearly as good as some of the best Electric-type PvE attackers in the game.

Is the Pokemon GO Tynamo Community Day worth playing from a PvP and PvE perspective?

No, competitively speaking, the Pokemon GO Tynamo Community Day doesn't have much to offer. That said, it still has promising bonuses. This is made better by the 4x catch XP bonus from the Better Together event. You can also encounter Shiny Tynamo for the first time in the game.
