At the outset of the Pokemon Horizons Episode 50 recap, Dot is watching her recently-uploaded Nidothing video where she announces to her fans that Iono will be battling a trainer who uses a Quaxly. She's stunned at the positive reception the video has received but is concerned about what battling Iono as her "true self" will be like, still reconciling her identity beyond her Nidothing persona.
Liko and Roy enter Dot's room on the Brave Olivine where she discusses that she believes sticking to her plan against Iono's Bellibolt will help her battle as her true self. However, Dot acknowledges that the unexpected tends to happen, using a recently botched but successful Nidothing video as an example, which Liko and Roy continue to watch and laugh at despite Dot's embarrassment.
Later that night, our Pokemon Horizons hero stays up analyzing Quaxly's poor matchup against Bellibolt since the former is an unevolved Water-type and the latter is an evolved Electric-type. She continues formulating her plan well into the night. The next morning, Liko, Dot, and Roy, depart for the Levincia Square, but Dot tells Murdock and the other Rising Volt Tacklers to stay behind.
As the kids walk by, Coral and Sidian are seen observing them from a distance, but they are interrupted by Director Clavell from Naranja Academy, who offers to watch Dot's Terastal course battle with them. However, Coral and Sidian depart before Clavell can finish speaking because Coral wants to sample churros from the city.
In the afternoon, Dot emerges from the Levincia City Gym and tells our Pokemon Horizons heroes that the preparations are set. Director Clavell approaches the kids and assesses their progress while praising them for their successes so far. Dot makes her way to the arena and Iono and Bellibolt prepare for battle. The Rising Volt Tacklers watch Iono's stream from the Brave Olivine.
Quaxly's speed proves to be effective at evading Bellibolt's Spark attack, but its Water-type attacks lead to unintended consequences when Bellibolt begins absorbing them. Elsewhere, Clavell still speaks to Liko while Roy watches the battle on his Rotom Phone, and Floragato and Fuecoco have fallen asleep. Clavell realizes he's been talking too long, and the group rushes to the arena.
Our Pokemon Horizons Episode 50 recap continues in the heat of battle. Bellibolt's stored power is released in a Discharge move that catches Quaxly by surprise and hits it for heavy damage. Bellibolt attacks with another Spark and Quaxly barely has time to rise to its feet and dodge. Quaxly uses a combo to knock Bellibolt down, but it uses Slack Off to restore its health.
Bellibolt awakens and uses Discharge again, and the water in the arena causes a short circuit of Iono's stream. Dot realizes she needs a new game plan, deciding to Terastallize her Quaxly for the first time in Pokemon Horizons. With its power boost, Quaxly uses multiple Low Kick attacks before finishing with its newly-learned Liquidation attack.
Iono's stream returns to normal, and she capitalizes on the moment to Terastallize Bellibolt. It releases another Discharge move that encompasses the arena, and when the electricity clears, Dot sees Quaxly break from its Terastal form and faint. Our Pokemon Horizons hero rushes to her defeated Pokemon, who flips its hair to show that it's still okay despite the battle having been lost.
Iono asks Dot how she feels. She replies that she hates to admit that she lost. However, Iono points out that Dot also had fun and battled while being true to herself. The stream chat broadcast on the nearby billboards agrees, and Iono tells Dot that she passed her Terastal course test for learning this valuable lesson.
Later on in the gym lobby, Clavell applauds Liko, Roy, and Dot for passing their Terastal course tests. He asks the trio to head back to Naranja Academy and asks Dot to help teach him about streaming, as he believes it will benefit the academy. Dot begins to explain, while Liko and Roy wonder how long Clavell will carry on the conversation, ending Pokemon Horizons Episode 50.
