Pokemon Horizons Episode 58 begins with our heroes arriving in the town of Medali, a hub for people who travel through Paldea. While Dot wants to battle Larry right away, the group notices a group of workers at the Anything Eatery that grabs Tinkatink's attention. However, when the little Pokemon approaches, a Kingambit appears and screeches, scaring Tinkatink and causing the gang to hold their ears.

The workers explain that the Kingambit is intended to draw in customers, but it's a bit intense and isn't working out as planned. The restaurant workers offer the kids a meal on the house for the scare, which our Pokemon Horizons heroes joyfully accept. When they do, Kingambit moves to open the door for them and accidentally breaks it to the kids' astonishment.

In the eatery, Roy examines his Rotom Pokedex, which tells him that Kingambit doesn't actually have a grasp of strategy and uses its immense strength to brute force through problems. Kingambit attempts to bring a salad to the kids' table, but it's too forceful and ends up breaking the bowl, immediately prostrating and apologizing for its mistake while the workers (Nandi and Mokichi) reassure it.

Nandi suggests that Kingambit head outside and attempt to draw the attention of some more customers, to which the Pokemon obliges. The kids are brought the "Anything Meal", which they're puzzled by due to its ability to create nearly every type of flavor for the palate. Mokichi remarks that he simply throws in tasty ingredients without thinking, causing Mokichi and Nandi to argue.

However, Dot appreciates the noodles at the bottom of the dish, and both Nandi and Mokichi praise Kingambit for creating the noodles in the first place since its immense strength can produce very chewy noodles. Our Pokemon Horizons heroes' Pokemon also receive Anything Meals, and Nandi states that she doesn't want their shop to be upstaged by the massive Treasure Eatery in town.

Mokichi then notices that his prized iron griddle is gone, only for Dot to run outside and realize that her Tinkatink has swiped it and fashioned it into a new hammer. She realizes the kids will likely have to help the restaurant to make up for the loss. However, Liko and Roy are happy to assist. Liko hopes to clean the eatery up while Roy advertises with Kingambit outside.

Meanwhile, Dot offers to go find a new griddle, taking Tinkatink since it has an eye for quality iron. The kids get to work, but Kingambit's terrifying sounds scare a child who walks up to it. Fortunately, Dot's Quaxly steps in and makes the little boy laugh, eventually drawing a crowd and allowing Roy and Dot to point potential customers to the eatery to enjoy an Anything Meal.

The eatery gets filled with customers, and the work gets more intense until Dot needs a break. Kingambit and Mokichi offer to rest with her, as Mokichi says Kingambit isn't in a cheerful mood. Mokichi states that he fell in love with Kingambit's voice and the two opened the eatery together, remarking that Kingambit's voice also scared Nandi at first which is how she joined them.

Dot worries that our Pokemon Horizons heroes arriving and changing things may have upset Kingambit, but Mokichi says he just wants Kingambit to return to its normal, hollering self. The kids reconvene after the customers leave, and while Dot says she's thankful for Quaxly's help drawing in customers, the Anything Meal wasn't enough to truly leave an impression on them.

Dot explains that because so many ingredients are loaded in the Anything Meal, customers can't find a taste that they consider their favorite. She also remarks that the key to improving the dish is Kingambit because of the tasty noodles it can make. Suddenly, Sidian of the Explorers appears at the restaurant. Kingambit immediately prostrates while Quaxly runs into his leg.

Sidian misunderstands and believes that he's being challenged to a Pokemon battle by Dot. The latter accepts, telling Kingambit to ready the noodles for the afternoon opening. Dot and Sidian step outside to battle as our Pokemon Horizons heroes watch. Quaxly and Sidian's Garganacl clash, drawing a crowd from the passersby in Medali, which Dot hopes will generate attention for the eatery.

Quaxly kicks the salt fired by Garganacl into the air, creating a sparkling effect that the crowd loves. Dot tells Liko to open the door, which causes the smell of the noodles to waft out into the crowd. Dot announces that the Anything Eatery will be preparing a new dish, the Groveling Cleave Udon, asking the citizens to come inside for a meal. Sidian stands in confusion until hunger hits him as well.

The Groveling Cleave Udon is a hit, and even Sidian comes inside for a bowl. Our Pokemon Horizons protagonists also have bowls of the specialty udon at the end of the day and are astonished at its flavor and Kingambit's improved mood. Mokichi thanks the kids for their help but begins to argue with Nandi again, but Kingambit's steely voice leads them both to laugh and get back to work.

Meanwhile, Larry is shown finishing a bowl of Groveling Cleave Udon. As he leaves, he remarks "never lose your beginner's spirit", which catches Dot's attention. Liko and Roy ask her what's the matter, but she says it's nothing, likely not wanting to alert her comrades that Larry may be keeping an eye on her before their fated battle, ending Pokemon Horizons Episode 58.
