There are various ways for players to encounter and catch wild critters in Pokemon GO. The three main ways trainers can do so is by finding them in the wild on the map view, battling them through the game's unique Raid Battles, or by hatching them from the various types of eggs that they can find throughout their journey. Eggs have been a staple in the Pokemon franchise since their debut in the second generation.

Originally being found through breeding two Pokemon, eggs take a much different approach in the mobile game compared to the main series. In Niantic's spin-off title, these are essentially reward capsules that players can find and hatch for a free Pokemon.

With every type of reward capsule, there are different tiers of rarity that players should be aware of. This remains consistent for Pokemon GO. Since the rarest type of egg is the 12-kilometer, or "strange" variant, we will be looking at the highest rarity tier of creatures that hatch from these sorts of eggs.

Pokemon GO: Rarest creatures that players can receive from eggs

1) Absol

The first creature is one not many main series players would expect to see from an egg, Absol. Debuting in the third generation of the franchise, Absol has been a favorite in every instance in which it appears. Most recently, the Disaster Pokemon has made quite the splash in Pokemon Unite, the franchise's free-to-play MOBA.

Absol does not evolve into any other form, but does have a Mega Evolution that players can obtain and use in Raid Battles if they so choose. In PvP battles, its performance is subpar to say the least. Thanks to its frail stats, the pick simply can't compete with the bulky tanks that the metagame revolves around.

2) Deino

Being the only Pseudo-Legendary to sport the Dragon and Dark type combination, Deino is what many players hope to hatch when they receive their strange egg. Though its final evolution, Hydreigon still falls flat in the competitive scene due to its frailty and crippling weakness to Fairy-type attacks, it is a solid contender in the Raid Battling scene.

Funnily enough, the middle-stage evolution of the family, Zweilous, sees some moderate success in Pokemon GO's Great League of all places. Thanks to its bulk being on par with other contenders in the tier of play, as well as its great moveset, it is one of the tier's sleeper pick staples.

3) Skorupi

Thanks to its evolution sporting the great defensive type combination of Dark and Poison, Skorupi is a great result that players can get from hatching a strange egg. On its own, it is not much of an impressive creature due to it having the standard Bug and Poison type combination that a lot of bugs have, leaving it relatively uneventful in Little Cup as well.

While Drapion does have a great type combination, it too tends to fall short in competitive usage, only serving as a niche counterpick that its trainer will rarely get to use effectively due to the Steel-types that rule Ultra League where it is most commonly seen. However, the pick is not bad for several Raid Bosses as a defensive anchor.

4) Skrelp

Often overlooked in favor of Clauncher, Skrelp is far from a terrible creature to get from a strange egg in Pokemon GO. Evolving into Dragalge, it is worth the investment for players looking for a Poison-type to use in their battle teams.

However, with a lacking movepool, it can do very little in terms of dealing with Steels and counterpicks. If it had access to Flamethrower in Pokemon GO, Dragalge would definitely be higher up on players' tier lists. Sadly, as it stands now, it is just a decent middle-of-the-road Dragon and Poison-type.

5) Salandit

Between Absol and Salandit, it is hard to tell which of the two are worse to have hatched from a strange egg in Pokemon GO. While Salazzle is not a terrible creature in competitive play, Salandit has very harsh evolution requirements that leaves 75% of the species unable to even reach this final form.

Not only is Salandit one of the rarest egg hatches in all of Pokemon GO, players then need to get lucky and get a female form. The odds of doing so are a slim 25%, which would be much easier if the creature did not already have such a rare hatch chance. If players do get one to evolve into Salazzle, it performs rather averagely in both Great and Ultra League.
