In the lead-up to, during, and after the Pokemon World Championships this year, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will host a few events. Starting on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 00:00 UTC and lasting until Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 23:59 UTC, a new set of Tera Raids will be available to enjoy while three Pokemon will be appearing in Mass Outbreaks in Paldea, Kitakami, and Blueberry Academy.
Although the Pokemon World Championships are scheduled for August 16-18, 2024, these Pokemon Scarlet and Violet events will run well before and after the championships to ensure that all trainers have a chance to enjoy the action.

Chest Form Gimmighoul Tera Raids

Throughout the event, Chest Form Gimmighoul will be appearing in both 1-star and 5-star Tera Raids with various Tera Types. Moreover, trainers who battle and defeat Chest Form Gimmighoul have a small chance of encountering its Shiny variant. Considering this shiny isn't normally detectable during ordinary gameplay, shiny hunters can rejoice.
Since this form of Gimmighoul appears in 1-star and 5-star raids, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trainers should be able to defeat this boss either alone or with friends. However, it's important to note that only players who defeat Chest Form Gimmighoul in 5-star raids during this event will have the chance to find its shiny, beating it in 1-star Tera Raids won't do the job.
Three Pokemon Mass Outbreaks
In addition to Chest Form Gimmighoul's Tera Raids during this Pokemon Scarlet and Violet event, three specific Pokemon will spawn in large numbers thanks to three separate Mass Outbreaks. Even better, these three Pokemon will have an increased chance to appear as shinies and better chances to be caught while carrying the Pumped-Up Mark.
However, trainers will have to go to specific parts of Scarlet and Violet's game world to find different Mass Outbreaks. Wattrel outbreaks will be appearing throughout Paldea, Riolu outbreaks will be taking place in Kitakami from The Teal Mask DLC, and Comfey outbreaks will be found at Blueberry Academy from The Indigo Disk DLC.
Overall, if trainers are hunting for a quality Wattrel/Riolu/Comfey or want to catch their shiny variants, this event is worth participating in, even if they choose not to tackle Chest Form Gimmighoul in Tera Raids.
