Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are hosting special Five-Star Tera Raids featuring Annihilape and Kingambit until December 19, 2024. Annihilape, in particular, has been a fan-favorite from the Paldea region. It is a new evolution of Primeape, a creature present in the franchise since its very beginning.
However, taking down these special Annihilape raids can be tricky, given that they do not appear in any one specific Tera Type like other event Raid Bosses. As such, some players may want to know more about the boss and how to counter it before they attempt the fight. Here's everything players should know about Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Annihilape Raid Boss.

As mentioned previously, this particular instance of Annihilape Tera Raids in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will have no guaranteed Tera Typing, meaning it can be hard to find a definitive offensive counter for the boss without one particular creature that will be mentioned later.
This boss will have access to Rage Fist, Throat Chop, Close Combat, and Stomping Tantrum as attacks, offering a great line of coverage as no specific monster can resist all of these elements at once. However, being only a Five-Star Raid Boss, it can be overpowered easily if the player brings a max-level Pokemon.

Best counters for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Annihilape Raid Boss
Hisuian Zoroark is one of the counters players should try to bring to this fight. While it is weak to Annihilape's Throat Chop attack, it is completely immune to Rage Fist and Close Combat, arguably the boss' two best forms of damage. Hisuian Zoroark also has incredible adaptability, with access to moves like Psychic, Flamethrower, and Sludge Bomb to cover a wide range of potential bosses.
Arceus is a counter that is admittedly a difficult task to acquire. However, it is arguably the best counter players can bring to any Tera Raid due to its wide and customizable move pool as well as its ability to take on any elemental typing in the game depending on the plate it holds. This also changes the type of its signature attack, Judgement. With other utility moves like Acid Spray, Recover, and Calm Mind, Arceus is a must-use for any trainer with access to it.
Terapagos can be another helpful counter thanks to its ability to reduce damage at full health as well as its Tera Starstorm move, which is super-effective against any Annihilape Raid Boss if Terapagos Terastallizes. Being a Normal-type monster, it is also immune to Rage Fist. Terapagos also has access to strong boosting moves like Calm Mind and Rock Polish in addition to Stored Power.
