Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are currently hosting special Five-Star Tera Raids until December 19, 2024, for Annihilape and Kingambit, two new evolutions of older creatures introduced in previous generations. Kingambit has become a popular choice for many due to its Supreme Overlord ability bringing a fun playstyle to competitive play.
Some players may want to take advantage of these event raids for an easier chance to get their hands on Kingambit. However, unlike many other Tera Raid events in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Kingambit has no defined type, making its fight much harder than other challengers. Here is what trainers should know about this boss if they intend to battle it.

Having no particular Tera Typing, Kingambit will be difficult to prepare for offense unless players have access to a particular Mythical Pokemon. With this in mind, the best strategy players can utilize is to prepare for Kingambit defensively, bringing creatures that resist its attacks, which remain consistent between raids.
For attacking moves, Kingambit will have access to Night Slash, Iron Head, Kowtow Cleave, and Slash. Thankfully, one particular creature in the game can resist every attack this creature can use during this Raid Battle and counter it effectively with a diverse move pool and strong attacks.

Best counters against Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Kingambit Raid Boss
Fitting in terms of the species' theme, the best counter for Kingambit is another Kingambit. With the boss' limited move pool, everything it can dish out during this fight can be blocked by another Kingambit thanks to its defensive-type combination. Additionally, Kingambit has a surprisingly rich move pool, with access to helpful coverage options like Low Kick, X-Scissor, Poison Jab, Shadow Claw, Zen Headbutt, and Stone Edge.
Arceus is the most common Mythical Pokemon players look to when it comes to optimally taking down a Raid Boss in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Thanks to its ability to change its typing with different plate items, players can easily change it to fit any Kingambit raid that might spawn. Changing its typing also changes the type of its signature move, Judgement, always putting it at an offensive advantage.
Incineroar can also be incredibly helpful for this raid, especially if players have one with its Intimidate hidden ability. Resisting Steel and Dark-type attacks, Incineroar can comfortably sit in on Kingambit, boosting its attack with Swords Dance and using Drain Punch to keep itself healthy.
Additionally, Koraidon can be a great choice for this raid, using the same tactics as Incineroar. However, it lacks the helpful utility of Intimidate and does not resist Steel-type attacks. Thankfully, Koraidon does have higher base stats and access to a deeper move pool to compensate for this.
