Draft Mode Activation Requirement

A significant update this season is the adjustment of the Draft Mode activation requirement. Based on the results of the Draft Mode survey conducted in Season 20, the requirement for starting Draft Mode has been lowered.

Draft Mode will now require a rating of at least Master Rank 1200 to take part, which was 1400 in the previous season. As such, this is going to make Draft Mode more accessible and increase its general appeal to people for more participation and strategic play.

License requirements

Besides the rank requirements, the arsenal of all 10 players in the match needs to have 14 or more licenses each. This system allows players to have options in case their desired picks are banned and gain access to a greater pool of Pokemon to create varied teams, improving the strategic possibility of teams.

EX Licenses per team

Another major change is the increase in the number of EX Licenses allowed per team. Previously, teams were permitted to have only one EX License. For Season 21, this number has been increased to four.

This adjustment is in conjunction with the introduction of the new EX Pokemon, Ho-Oh, which will also be released on July 19. The increase in EX Licenses is intended to encourage players to experiment with and utilize the new Pokemon, adding a fresh dynamic to the game.

Master Rank requirement in matches

An additional regulation requires that the draft must include at least one Master Rank player among all the 10 matched players. This ensures a higher level of competition and expertise in each match, aiming to improve the overall quality of gameplay.

As the new season kicks off on July 19, we look forward to seeing how these changes will shape the competitive landscape of Pokemon Unite.
