The 500 Point Battle mode is a fast-paced game mode set in the massively popular Remoat Stadium. This game mode does not have a time limit and the first team to score 500 points wins. Unlike the standard 10-minute matches we’re all familiar with, this mode emphasizes pure scoring power and strategic gameplay, making each decision on the battlefield crucial.

Key features of the 500 Point Battle mode

  • Visible team scores: In the current ranked mode, players cannot see the opposing team’s score, adding a layer of suspense. However, in the 500 Point Battle mode, team scores are visible throughout the match, allowing teams to adjust their strategies based on real-time information.
  • No double points after 8 minutes: Traditionally, points are doubled after the 8-minute mark in regular matches. This rule does not apply in the 500 Point Battle mode, so teams must consistently score throughout the game rather than relying on a late-game point surge.
  • Zapdos Effect: Zapdos now travels to the opposing goal zone after being defeated. Its effect is immediately applied to the enemy’s goal zone once it reaches there. This forces your opponent to decide whether to go on the offensive or defend against Zapdos.
  • Zapdos is not the only center spawn: Throughout the game, Zapdos might occasionally appear as the main objective which can help you dominate your opponents or turn the tides. However, Zapdos is not the only objective as players will also have to compete to get Regieleki and Regidrago.
  • Fast-paced: Sticking to the theme of a fast-paced game mode, the 500 Point Battle allows players to level quickly and evolve fast. Wild Pokemon are also ready to farm sooner, while objectives like Regice, Registeel, Regirock, and Rotam spawn as early as possible.
  • No overdunking: If an opposing goal requires a certain number of points to break, you will only score that amount. If you have more points than required the remaining amount is returned to you.
  • Goal Zone slow: When enemies enter your team's Goal Zones their movements are slowed instantly, as opposed to when they enter the Flux Zone, which is beyond that particular Goal Zone in regular ranked games.
  • Magnemites with cameras: Magnemites will spawn near your base if your team loses one or both Tier One Goal Zones. These Magnemites provide vision for your team, helping you spot enemies. The opposing team can KO the Magnemites to remove this vision, but they will respawn after 60 seconds. This mechanic gives your team an advantage by granting extra vision when you're behind in the game.

Pokemon Unite 500 Point Battle mode: Aeos Technology

One of the most exciting features of the 500 Point Battle mode is the introduction of Aeos Technology. These are powerful buffs that players can choose from an option of three at various point thresholds (0, 50, 100, 200, and 350 points). These buffs significantly impact gameplay and can turn the tide of battle. Here’s a closer look at what Aeos Technology brings to the table:

  • Early-Game buffs: At the start of the match, players can select a buff that applies instantly. A few examples of these are buffs that boost them to level 4 at the start of the game, giving them an early advantage in lane control and clashes.
  • Mid-Game buffs: As teams reach higher point thresholds, more powerful buffs become available. For example, one buff allows players to steal Aeos energy from opponents with basic attacks, while another lets players score instantly.
  • Late-Game buffs: Near the end of the match, the buffs get even crazy. Players can choose buffs that let them heal themselves and allies in an aura, or use their Unite Move with a faster recharge rate. These buffs can create some truly spectacular moments, especially as teams race towards the 500-point mark.

With the introduction of Aeos Technology, the strategic depth of Pokemon Unite has increased significantly. Teams must carefully consider which buffs to select and when to activate them. The ability to see the opponent's score also adds a new layer of strategy, as teams can adapt their playstyle based on how close they are to reaching the 500-point goal.

Additionally, the removal of over-dunking means that players must be more thoughtful about when and where they score. Only the exact amount needed to break a goal zone will be counted, with the rest of the points being returned to the player. This change makes it crucial to coordinate with teammates and ensure that every point scored contributes to the team's overall progress.
