All About Porygon Pokémon

Last Modified Jun 16, 2021 08:03 GMT

Most Pokemon are organic or at least come from living sources. However, some are far from it and are robots, ghosts, or even just computer code. Porygon is a normal type but its origins are far from normal. Porygon is a Pokemon that exists only in cyberspace.

Appearance of Porygon

Porygon has a very simple design, it looks like a low-quality polygonal model with sharp patterns of pink and blue. It's shaped almost like a duck but with no mouth and a very small, thin, rigid tail. Its feet are basically just triangles, having a very little complex shape.

Behavior of Porygon

Porygon is a manmade Pokemon and can exist in cyberspace. While it has a physical form, it can exist as computer code and often is used to find and fix bugs in computers.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Porygon is a pure normal type so its strengths and weaknesses are also very normal. It has no resistance but is immune to ghost-type moves. It takes double damage from fighting-type moves.

Porygon Z

Porygon Z is the fully evolved form of Porygon. Porygon Z is much smoother in design than Porygon. Though the colors are the same, Porygon Z looks very different.

Shiny Porygon Z

Shiny Porygon Z is the rare recolored version of Porygon Z. Shiny Porygon Z is not dissimilar to Shiny Porygon. Shiny Porygon Z has its pink color changed to a dark blue color and its old blue coloring changed to blueish white. Shiny Porygon Z does lack the pinker look that Shiny Porygon has, however, which makes it look more like it swapped its coloring.

FAQs

Q. Why is Porygon banned?

Porygon is not necessarily banned in competitive play but is so weak that no player uses one.

Q. Why is Porygon so rare?

Porygon has been rare from the beginning, and presumably because it’s man-made and not many were made in the first place.

Trivia

Porygon is the only Pokemon that evolves from a trade twice.

Porygon’s evolution line was each introduced in a different generation.

Porygon’s name may be a corruption of the word polygon.

Conclusion

While Porygon may not be powerful or popular it is unique, and rather meta. It's a Pokemon that exists within programming and technology which is exactly what makes Pokemon happen in our real world.
